This topic made me enlist a couple of my friends for a S3&K marathon today. Beat it in one sitting, but I missed 2 Super Emeralds argh...

One of my friends turned out to not have played it before. Never got past Marble Garden, where he game over'd against the boss 3 times. I lol'd.

Consider that if you lose all your lives/continues a while into the game, you're stuck having to beat the zone you're at with only 3 lives. That can be pretty daunting when you're new to the game! The Marble Garden boss leaves very little room for mistake and has unique mechanics so I definitely understand the trouble... but we still laughed at him, of course.






**GAME SPOILERS** (lol)


Another of my friends ended up in the ultimate example of that problem: Running out of continues at Death Egg. Now getting through that in three lives, including the ring-less final boss, can be a nightmare.

This is one hell of a quality thread. I love it when someone who never played any of the original games get to see where the series was built from.

(I am also is a Sonic Elitist in a way, doesn't like much of the modern games. I do like Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 though. >_>)

Also, I haven't played any modern Sonic game since Sonic Heroes (It was alright, not great, but not unplayable) and that horrible Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 game that I couldn't even stomach past the first 3 levels... >_> Also I didn't like the Warehog game.

Any modern ones you modern Sonic fans would recommend?

I don't like any of the modern Sonic games except Colors. I don't even like Adventure and I was still impressed with Colors.

I am watching Sonic Generations with interest though. My guess is I'll like the 2D sections and dislike the 3D sections.
