Finally finished Ocarina of Time 3DS. Overall, fun game, but yeah. Not my favorite or anything. I prefer Majora's Mask, I think.
But screw Link, it's time for Squall. I played FF8 some time ago, buuuuuut I only got about halfway through disc 1 then my save file went to hell. Since then I could never quite find the willpower to play it again.
BUT! It's been so long I forgot most of disc 1 anyway, so I'm finally ready to play it again.
Uh anything I should know about the game in advance?

Also, learn to play Triple Triad, and learn how to Junction properly. Learn Refine abilities from your GF and don't waste your time drawing all those spells.
But do check to see what every enemy has because some of them have GFs (Summons).

"So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!"
Played for about 1 hour yesterday. I'll elaborate more later, but for now I just gotta say this:
KP kept telling me to prepare myself not to take Squall seriously or else I'd hate him but...I actually like him so far. I mean he's no Poirot but still I like him more than I liked Cloud 1 hour into FF7.

Alright, had a few problems with my psp(lost the charger, spent one hour looking for it, realized I had left it at a friend's house) buuuuuut I'm gonna play it now.

I highly suggest you don't actually break the game super hard. Keep playing the card game as you go along and get max tornados early, but don't use them unless you get stuck. Use magic to get through instead. Makes the game super fun and challenging.

Some people find breaking the game fun! Just do what you like best! That's the good thing about FFVIII. You can make it about as easy or as hard as you want it to be.
I only figured out how to play it after like the 3rd disc where I was getting my ass kicked my first time through the game. After that I was stomping people left and right.
Familiarizing yourself with the Junction System is probably the first step you should take in FF8. I think it is very well designed and has a lot of depth to it. Once you know everything about Junction, then its up to you how you want to play FF8 (whether you want to make it challenging or easy). Try and collect all the cards in FF8. It is so much fun because Triple Triad is one of the best minigames I've played in any game.
Yup, playing with headphones. Always do no matter the game. Alright, time to finally start describing my experiences with the game:
CHAPTER 1 OF FINAL FANTASY 8 ADVENTURES
My first hour consisted of going through the tutorials. I figured "well that character told me to read it so...uhh time to read it?" and I did. I read it all. I don't know why. I may secretly hate myself. On the plot side, Squall was injured by someone named Seifer? Seizer? FORGOT HOW TO WRITE HIS NAME. But I know he was in kingdom hearts and was much less cool than he is right now. I have no idea how to feel about Final Fantasy Hogwarts since I have no f****** clue what a Seed is supposed to do, but it's much more violent than regular Hogwarts apparently so that's cool.
As for Squall...pretty much everyone I know that played this game warned me I would hate him. I...don't. Yeah he is quiet, but he still seems pretty likable to me! I played very little so far, but I already like him more than Cloud, for example. Cloud is one character that I never liked at all. Squall seems fun though! The teacher is kinda annoying but I won't be surprised if she gets better throughout the game.
So Squall has to catch a Pokemon in a cavern before being able to take the exam? Okay. Pokemon catching time. But first, time to give this random girl who I suspect will be important later and hopefully not the love interest a tour of the academy. Okay that's helpful. I wandered around the academy just to get used to it in case the game takes a while to leave that setting, and talked to a ton of npcs(I do that a lot). I got some TRADING CARDS. I think. I'm not sure if I got the trading cards now or after I came back from the mission but whatever.
Once in the world map, I was like "wheeeeeeee" and began having random battles like crazy to get used to the battle system. DRAW DRAW DRAW. I don't fully understand what I'm doing, BUT I'M DRAWING. After around 20-30 minutes...uh 45 minutes of drawing and fighting for no reason, I figure "okay I like this battle system" and actually go to the place I'm supposed to. Dude asked me to input my own time limit.
10 MINUTES
BECAUSE I LIKE CHALLENGES
...WELL THAT WASN'T MUCH OF A CHALLENGE.
I kept wondering if my time would run out after beating Ifrit(whom I named Batman) but it stops after you catch the Pokemon. I thought you had to race back to the start after capturing him as well. After that Squall was told to change his clothes and get his uniform. I was about to go to the dorms where I assume his uniform is when my psp battery ran out.
So far I: --Like Squall. He's fun. Why the hell did everyone and their mother warn me I would hate him? --Like the battle system more than I should. There are things I can feel people would hate but quite personally I love just looking for a way to break the battle system so nothing becomes a challenge. --Dislike that the Sei whatever dude from the beginning got much less interesting in Kingdom Hearts. I don't think he had a single line here yet and I already like him more than his KH version. --Actually want to play the game more.

You did in the Japanese version. Funnily enough, in the overseas version, you can just stop on Ifrit's naming screen and wait for time to run out. You won't lose, and you'll get the best result.
-- Okay, I rolled a 14. What's that mean? Hsu That you're a cheater. This is a 12-sided die. Chan
I can see it happening if you choose 10 minutes, have bad luck with random encounters and accidentally try to summon something since those animations take freaking forever.
-- GREEN RANGER http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/4548/signaturedi.jpg
Oh I did summon Shiva against Ifrit, he went all "What? Humans have Shiva?" or something. I meant if you accidentally used a summon against a random enemy instead of Ifrit while having the 10 minute time limit!

Hey I'm just saying it's theoretically possible within some sort of one in a thousand scenario! Like some kid accidentally turns on the turbo button on his controller, doesn't know what it does, and...you know! IT'S POSSIBLE DAMN IT.
-- GREEN RANGER http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/4548/signaturedi.jpg
In the movie remake for Charlie's Angels there's a typical "boys will be boys"-style scene in which two kids are mashing the f*** out of every button on their controllers like they're beating the s*** out of eachother hardcore, you know, fighting game, crazy stuff, real talk.
...Except the screen clearly indicates they're playing Final Fantasy VIII.
