Not saying there is or isn't an afterlife, just wondering, if you could make an afterlife that would be in your mind perfect for you, what would it consist of?
Personally, mine would be as a consciousness exploring the universe. I'd have all my current senses, sight, hearing, smell, feel, not so sure taste would be necessary (also, don't ask me how that would work, because I don't know.) To be able to view a sunrise or sunset on a different planet has been something I've wanted for as long as I can remember. To look upon a foreign terrain and sky would be an experience I would love to have.
Anybody else have any ideas?

I have given a ridiculous (and likely unhealthy) amount of thought to this.
I still don't really have an answer, but I think it's pretty close to yours. One of my favorite things in general is exploration and I could see my ideal afterlife incorporating ample amounts of that and adventure. That's dampened by often wondering what purpose all of that exploration would have and there being an eventual end to the novelty. I wonder if that actually could be avoided because in the vast array of things that can be experienced, is it impossible to stay bored of one thing forever?
I was thinking just reliving your life, with all your memories intact. I'd have to get around the whole "80 year old baby" part, but otherwise it would be like New Game+ for life. Try out different choices!
Maybe just being reborn completely with those memories in tact would be cool too.
I suppose wishing to be the omnipotent ruler of my own personal reality would be cheating? Creating and altering universes at will, able to be anyone or anything. Fun way to spend eternity.
Failing that (or any eternal dreams or matrix scenarios that simulate that) being reincarnated in a universe of my choice. Spending a lifetime somewhere and then starting over somewhere else, over and over again.
Failing that, I'd settle for reincarnation here.

My ideal afterlife would be to get a chance to observe all the things from this life/world that I didn't have the opportunity to sample the first time, or that I want to relive. Notably, I mean like books, movies, games, music, etc....but I suppose you could apply that to people too if you wanted to.
OP is pretty cool actually, I never thought of that. Like every other afterlife though, at some point, it'll either get boring or you'll run out of stuff to do (therefore it'll get boring). Sure, the universe is f***ing huge, but eternity is a long ass time.
That would still be really cool for a good amount of eternity though.
Other than that, there are two other afterlifes I think I would enjoy, one is the simple being around all my family, friends, people I care about, girlfriend and all that nice stuff.
Second choice is more complex, but it would be so awesome. I've spent YEARS developing this world of my own, with a character I created when I was 13 named Halo (and yeah, that's the origin of my user name), anyway, I'm not going to go into details about this world and the story I've crafted for it, but I would love to become that character and live out his life as a sort of reincarnation into my own god damn world that I created myself.

A giant CYOA of the life I lived, where I could rewind and fastforward and see what different things could have happened depending on my choices.
Edit: Actually, even better, after I'm done with that, a CYOA where I can quantum leap into anybody and make decisions for them, and see how history turns out after that period. God, I would literally never get tired of this.

Same here. And I think the only way to make my idea better would be to have someone to experience it with. TBH this line of thought started the first time I saw What Dreams May Come. I thought the idea of a personslized heaven was cool and wondered what mine would be. Based on my wanting to explore the universe, I figured that it was probably what I wrote in my opening post.

Being reborn or reincarnated. Basically, living again. New life, new experiences. No memories of the old to sully the new life. Although, having memories of a past life would be cool, too.
Being able to exist, feel and experience is wonderful.
Being reborn would be nice, I don't mind not keeping my memories but keeping a feeling that after death there's something would be extremely reassuring (Because thinking there's nothing after death scares me so much).

...pretty much the same as yours, OP. i thought it was pretty unique. <_< to add to an eternal amount of exploration, the one 'concept' i always have in mine is a lack of, erm, backsliding. any dream afterlife of mine will have no forgotten memories, decaying skills, diseases, atrophying bodies...i want an eternity to improve at everything and engage in occasional competition to demonstrate my improvement, no matter how incremental that improvement may be. i would never tire of that.

Personally, I'm hoping it's like in DBZ. There'd be a giant guy behind a desk tellin me to go down snake way to King Kai's planet, and the people who were just outright bad humans would end up in the HFIL. Of course, that's just too comfortable for me to be true, but I'm not really a fan of the heavier things like 'universe exploration' or heaven/hell and the like.
Some sort of sub-omnipotence would be cool. Just being able to do anything on a reasonable scale. And being able to check out of immortality would be a good option as well.

Just chill out with family/friends that have died + great historical figures. Also be able to make fictional characters come to life and hang out with them. Like a holodeck, but for realz. We could all explore the universe, and have great adventures.

Whatever I want at the time. I'd grow bored with just about anything after a sufficient amount of time, I imagine. Even periods of non-existence might be nice.

I wouldn't ask for periods of non-existence. What's the point? You'd experience it like dreamless sleep, and so it'd just be waking up later in the future.

I like the whole eternal dream idea considering I often have extremely lucid dreams in which I know I'm dreaming and I challenge my imagination in terms of what I can do in the dream. There's usually a theme involved. I'm either just exploring randomly testing what I can do, trying to solve some kind of mystery, being in a videogame and having the game world be as if it was a game I had never played (I never know what to expect) and generally I have full control over myself and make up my own weapons but the game world itself and any enemies/bosses I face don't seem like my ideas at all... or of course the sex dream. Generally 1 or 2 of those themes are focused upon >_> My biggest hinderences are waking up, thinking I'm going to wake up (and having the dream dematerialize), things changing unexpectedly, limitations on what I try to do (not being able to jump high enough or falling and crashing when trying to fly etc) which is usually due to real-world inexperience/lack of reference points (I had trouble trying to enlarge a boss in the vg-themed dream to God of War size because I've never been around a living creature that is several hundred feet tall, moving around and trying to kill me, so it was difficult to piece together what the experience would realistically be like, so the damn thing kept shrinking and feeling like instead of me being in a 3d lifelike environment with it, I was watching it on a screen or something and was displaced from the actual arena in which I was supposed to be fighting it. Stuff like that gets better with practice though.)
so yeah, an eternity of that would be pretty fun. I suppose maybe I'd run out of ideas eventually, but then again, maybe I wouldn't...

Maybe like a neverending lucid dream, only things are consistent and make sense. And maybe I don't fully realize I'm in complete control, but things still happen exactly how I want them to subconsciously or something. I say I wouldn't want to be fully in control, because that would mean if I were to imagine other people, I'd know instantly that they weren't "real", and I think that would be lonely eventually.
I guess something like omnipotence in my own little universe would be cool, too. Like, I could lay out entire lifetimes for myself in different situations and worlds and whatnot, and then remove my knowledge of omnipotence and just live out those lives to the fullest, completely happy.

yeah it's pretty awesome. I get those lucid opportunities randomly (I can't control when they will happen) but when they happen I'm typically able to recognize them and enjoy them as much as I can. They're high-maintainance though... they require lots of focus and willpower, as well as confidence and memory (I usually have to fight several instances of thinking I will wake up even if they are bulls***, like I'll hear my alarm and immediately think "damn this dream is over and I'm going to wake up" only if I focus hard enough, I realize the sound of the alarm is wrong and therefore is just my mind trying to f*** with me... then I just have to hold the dream together for what feels like around 10-15 seconds to keep it from changing completely to something else or waking me up...)

That would be pretty great, but I also like the idea of retaining consciousness and being able to fly around the universe exploring.
