Grrr, I accidentally shipped Return of Bruce Wayne to my campus address, and instead of forwarding my mail like they were SUPPOSED to, they sent it back to Amazon. And now the price is $2 higher than when I first ordered it.

And to top it all off, of course Digital Devil Saga 1 jumps up $20 in price just before I get around to buying it.

I really don't think you can review an individual comic in a story arc and be considered professional about it. Just look at the reviews for the last 2 issues of FF, no way can those be counted individually.

Hell, there are cases where it doesn't even work for self contained issue. Throughout the run of Blue Beetle there were a bunch of "filler" issue, but at the huge plot revalation near the end, it was revealed that every single one of those actually factored in to the ending in a very major way.

Man, Green Lantern wasn't THAT bad.

It was pretty bad if you're talking about a pure budget:film quality ratio but otherwise....I don't really get the hate.

Whoa I lied, Digital Devil Saga is back down to $29.99 with Prime shipping now. I'm ordering that s*** now.

And Bruce Wayne too. It's the last book in the Morrison Bat-saga I don't own! Well, except for Resurrection of Ra's-al-Ghul, which was....honestly, I thought it was a pretty bad storyline. <_<

Good thing it's essentially inconsequential to the rest of Morrison's run!

EDIT: Actually, I take it back. Resurrection wasn't bad, it just....felt very average. It definitely had some interesting parts like Ra's backstory but on on the whole I kind of just wanted to get through it and move on to Black Glove/R.I.P. and stuff. Plus, it wasn't all written by Morrison so the writing quality was inconsistent. And the ending was...very anticlimactic and dumb.

And it did lead to the strange scenario of Dick telling Tim that it's wrong for him to use the Lazarus Pit to bring back people from the dead............and then trying to use it on Bruce in Batman & Robin.

At the very least, Morrison had Alfred call Dick out on doing that.

Kelly never had an extended run, but he did a lot of fun stories during the BND era.

And no, you can just follow the ASM book and get the whole story. You don't have to buy a bunch of books you weren't following in the first place, or have one part of the book written/drawn by a creative team you don't like as much.

As for the tie-ins I want:

-Cloak and Dagger. Nick Spencer writing, who is APPEARENTLY a good one, but the real reason is Emma Rios. That chick can draw.






-Venom: This book hasn't gotten great(although Venom #5 has helped me give a damn about the protagonist), but it is very enjoyable, and its gonna have Venom vs Anti-Venom who is the original Venom guy Eddie Brock.





Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu: I like Anthony Johnson on non-Daredevil things, and its been awhile since Shang-Chi got his own book. Promises to have more kicks per page then any other Spider-Island book, and that is something I like very much.



Deadly Foes: Hobogoblin and especially The Jackal seem to be very central to the story of Spider-Island, and this one-shot is gonna give them a bit of spotlight. It also seems to be evolving on the Robbie/Phil/Norah love triangle sub-plot that's been building for months, and that has my attention.




I Love New York: No idea what this is, actually, but its got Greg Rucka and Kelly Sue Deconnick writing it, so it should be competently written at least!

Warren Ellis Stormwatch v1 read, great stuff. Look forward to v2 and Authority. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can tolerate Millar's run. I've been told that after that there is little point in continuing into v3 Authority.

I just read the first 12 Secret Avengers issues and actually quite enjoyed them! It's definitely a Cap book and not a team one, but I'm okay with that.

Probably won't touch it post-Brubaker, though.

Oh nooooo I caught up on Secret Six and then I realized there isn't any more until next week.
And then there isn't any more at all.

But overall it was excellent. It was just...very refreshing to see things from the "villain"'s point of view, and seeing their motivations and actions from their point of view. And the characterization was great all around. The slice-of-life stuff was great, ESPECIALLY when Bane was involved. The only part I thought was weird character-wise was the "Darkest House" storyline. I mean......Ragdoll? Really? <_< That just came out of ****ing NOWHERE.

Of course, even though I thought that part of the arc was dumb, it still found time to be awesome.




The only other low point was the crossover with Doom Patrol, and that's not Simone's fault at all. The first half was excellent but Giffen dropped the ball there.

So..........
time to murder the bat-family, I guess?

So, is World of Flashpoint #3 available? I'm starting to like that story.

Also, with a couple of exceptions, the characters in Flashpoint kinda piss me off. What is this? The world of no logic? Of being blind to the obvious? The generals in Booster Gold are f***ing idiots, Diana can't see the plot behind the war, and Arthur seems to be almost as blind, though he seems to at least question events. Thomas Wayne is one of those exceptions, I like him as Batman.
