Let's play

ZEN TALKS ABOUT SUMMARIES OF COMIC BOOK FANFICTION FROM FANFICTION.NET

Iris of Asgard by reapersama101
*Runs with Thor movie/Spoilers* What happens when Jane and Thor have two children, Loki and Iris? And what about Earth? Jane decides to send her children to Earth, however not to New Mexico; to La Push, Washington.

This one is a crossover of Thor and Twilight. You know the downside of casting the sexy Chris Hemsworth as Thor? TEEN GIRLS ARE GOING TO WRITE CROSSOVERS OF THOR AND TWILIGHT.

The Untitled GleeKickAss Slashfic Crossover by GeniaTheParadox
Random Finn/Kurt one-shot. Foul-mouthed, badass Kurt, aka Hit Boy. Finn, aka Kick-Ass, falls for him. Kurt's having none of it. I really fail at summaries, but it's a bit of fun so give it a go. It'll make me happy.

There's not one, but FOUR M-rated crossovers of Kick-Ass and glee. And it randomly has Kick-Ass as a gay kid, even though half the plot of the book revolved around him pretending to be gay just to get laid. Also, it's a crossover of Kick-Ass and Glee.

Spidey's Harem by West Mountai
Peter gets doused pheromone booster and is now attracting various women sexually, will he conquer this latest trial or be smothered by various females. Peter X multiple girls including Gwen, MJ, Felicia, Kitty ,Natasha, X-23, and Emma Frost.

So Peter gives into temptation and ends up raping several girls, including one that's probably 16ish. Actually, if Gwen is still alive, then X-23 must be like... an embryo.

Creepy.

Against all odds by SilverCat-22
A song fic about Superman pushing away Wonder Woman..

A what?

"Shhh, Kal there is nothing to forgive…."

So take a look at me now,
'cos there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me,
just the memory of your face

"Diana for the sake of my marriage with Lois I think…. I think its best that we don't come near each other unless it's a Justice League matter… I… I hope you understand."

Diana blue eyes filled with pain but she understood, "If that's what you think is best Superman, I will no longer bother you." She walked out of the room… unknown to him that would be last he would see of her.

That's how good Gail Simone is, she takes obscure nobody characters and turns them into some of the best characters around.

> I don't really see it as we're trying to draw new readers in as much as I'm trying to write "Teen Titans" #1 in a way that someone doesn't pick it up and feel like all the best stories about these characters were told 10 years ago. I think a first issue should, where possible, say "Hey! Hop on board! This is going to be awesome!" I'd rather say that than, "Oh, hi! Sorry, you missed everything!"

>I’ll say this: if the comic industry never created another young white male super hero, we’d be okay. Not that I have anything against them, but I don’t think the over abundance of them reflect the world we live in. So yes, the three characters who are not the Core Four are “diverse” — even the villain in the second issue is Samoan, and the forth member of the Outlaws is a young black man.

>But I will say this: Sometimes I’ll look at previous choices (and this isn’t a slam against any one writer or editor because this particular example has been around for decades and has become part and parcel of the Teen Titans) and it leaves me scratching my head. The Statue Graveyard In The Teen Titans Basement? I look at that and I think, “What 17 year old on planet earth has statues of their dead friends in their basement, or their garden or their front lawn?” I’ve had my share of friends who died in my youth, and it would never occur to me in a million years to have statues of my dead friends commissioned so I could keep them in my basement and visit with them whenever I was feeling depressed.

>I’d rather not say right now, but I will tell you who will not be showing up: Trigon, Deathstroke, Brother Blood, Blackfire, Titans of Tomorrow. To be clear, these were all great and exciting concepts when they were introduced: but over the years the Teen Titans books have started to feel like a greatest hits album. We want to move away from that.

You know you're telling me to like Scott Lobdell, but I never made any indication that I dislike him. And if he's writing Teen Titans, then I'm sure as hell hyped now that you've done nothing but love that guy for millions of posts now.

No for real, I was already excited about Teen Titans, and the more news that flows in, the more excited about it I am. Aside from Tim having wings and no cape, everything seems pretty good. Pretty sure I've actually said all this before, but yeah, and after reading today's Teen Titans, I'm even more happy for Cassie's change. God DAMN she needed it. Such a horrible f***ing character right now.

I'm not trying to convince you or anything like that, you've mentioned you're hyped. I just like posting good stuff about the guy! You don't have any idea how upsetting it is for me that the entire Titans line has been so awful for so long. Titans was the only reason I got into comics in the first place!

And they guy has been so open about it, while so much of the relaunch has been hush hush. Everyone else is hiding everything behind their desks, while Lobdell is shouting in the corner, "New characters! New villains! Superboy is gonna start out nuts! Costumes are gonna change a bunch! I want Krypto on Outlaws! BUT DON'T TELL DIDIO!"

Even the explanation for the Red Robin wings is good. And I don't see why everyone is all up in arms about Brett Booth, I think the art looks pretty great!

It's in the interview. It's lengthy but I recommend reading all of it!

Brett said on another site that “the battles between me and Scott were epic!” And they were. We would go round and round about Red Robin, for example. Brett didn’t want to change him at all — and I wanted huge steam-punk wings that would allow him to get from place to place without being cradled in Wondergirl’s arms or riding Superboy piggyback. (I’m sorry, but Starfire cradling Robin in her arms while he’s shouting out orders to the team is one of those images you just never forget.)

I felt really strongly that Red Robin has to be different from Robin who has to be different from Nightwing and Red Hood and Batgirl and Huntress and everyone who puts on a mask and becomes part of the “Bat Family”. Tim has to be more than just another teen detective in an ever revolving domino mask — and part of the way to do that is for him to adapt to his environment. When he’s leaping from roof to roof with Batman, he can function like a Batman. But when he’s running around with guys that can topple buildings or speed around the city in ten seconds, he needs to adapt in ways that don’t make him a liable to the rest of the team.

Brett would write to me and say “Robin is named after Robin Hood, not the bird. No wings.” I would write back and say “Let’s just TRY the wings, see how they look.” He would write back “I sketched out some wings. They don’t work.” I’d say “Can I SEE the wings and we can DISCUSS the different looks?” and he’d write back and say “Fans don’t want to see Red Robin with wings. I know, I am a fan. They won’t accept him with wings.” LOL! This went ’round and ’round and ’round until he relented and showed me the wings and then we all got really excited because Red Robin looks so great with those wings! They say “Yeah, I’m a teen detective — but I’m smart enough to know what I need to kick your ass!” (Storywise, how he came by those wings in continuity and the other additions to his “utility belt”, is so exciting I want to blurt them out right here! And when you look at the character’s history, he grew up around a guy who had bat-mobile, a bat-copter, a bat-boat, a batcave, and the most expensive toys in the world. This notion that Red Robin wouldn’t similarly use today’s technology to help him in his own fight against crime flies in the face of everything we know about the character.)

Oh nice, now that does make it a lot better. I kind of wish the wings still doubled as a cape, but maybe they do when he needs to get his Batman on. Regardless, that is a very good reason to have wings now.

He also said they'd be changing costumes too? So maybe he'll just use his good ol' cape when he's back in Gotham or something.

Continuing my journey through Immortal Iron Fist and it is just SO GOOD.

Danny Rand is actually funny too, like he's not a serious kung fu master as I original took him for (had barely any exposure to him). He can goof around just as well as he can dish out some major pain. Lovin' this guy.

I'm also really just interested in the Iron Fist history now too.

Danny Rand is awesome. He's not po-faced serious like fellow kung-fu master Shang-Chi, but not all quippy like Spider-Man. Despite being a billionaire kung fu master, he's actually pretty relatable and he's a likable protagonist. Plus, he's dating Misty Knight and his best friend is Luke Cage, so +100000 respect points, my white brotha.

When did Dan Slott start writing Spider-Man?

His solo run on the book started with #648, when it was coming out bi-monthly. However, he did a lot of work back during the "Brand New Day" era when they were constantly switching creative teams after every story arc, and it was coming out 3-times a month. As with anything that has 100+ issues with dozens of different writers and artists, the quality is inconsistent, but there's definitely more good then bad and only a few outright stinkers. Slott was the most consistent of the group. He just "gets" Spider-Man: Peter Parker's humor, science smarts, relationship issues, inner monologue to no one in particular. He writes great supporting cast members(even if I think Carlie is pretty dull compared to MJ), he totally nails the fun, superhero soap opera feel that everyone loves about Stan Lee's original run, or Roger Stern's run in the 80s.

He's just born to write this character and his world, and I hope Marvel has him chained to his desk in his basement, just forced to write more Spidey scripts and tossing him down hamburgers occasionally.

I also recommend "Spider-Man/Human Torch: I'm With Stupid", a mini-series he did before his ASM run that everyone loved and was like, "Hey, that guy should be writing the actual ASM book!", where Red Ghost and his Super Apes chase Spidey and The Human Torch in the Spider-Mobile, but are defeated with the power of DELICIOUS FRUIT PIES.

They're released side by side, it doesn't matter which you read first. You can either alternate or read one first, and then the other next.

They're two different books, and like every other comic book, if they're not crossing over, they're just focusing on their own stories and not worrying about what the other books are doing. So in this case, even though Atrocitus is on Earth in one, you just have to guess that he flew to Ysmault to meet with Guy and Ganthet in the other.
