Starting playing a little Pinball FX 2 again because there's a contest up for the Spiderman Table. Again, I will be nowhere near getting top three. Because those scores are crazy and I'm pretty bad!

Pleasantly surprised with how fun Adventures of Shuggy is. There's a lot to the game and it's fun to come back to in between other games and play a view levels.

200/200 for Bastion. Pistols/Musket/Summon Squirt is just silly powerful even with multiple totems on. But yet even then the last Who Knows Where was tough, especially one section where I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten through it if I had the enemies regen health totem on, sheesh.

Interesting review. Frankly, I'm not sure if it applies to me much, I think in a lot of ways you wrote it as a real metroid fan. I'm someone who kind of likes the formula, but has never finished a Metroid game (lol), so I probably won't be holding it to those standards. so who knows what I will think!

also, your XBLA essay was interesting. Personally, I love what it has become, though yeah, some stuff like Section 8 and Hydrophobia are definitely pretty meh, but I think we get more consistent quality releases than ever. And I think Braid paved the way for more and more ambitious projects on XBLA, this Summer of Arcade being a prime example (even if some of the experiments haven't gone as perfectly as hoped)

I just don't like big bloated releases from big companies disguised as downloadable games. I like my xbla games to be lean and smart. Splosion Man and its load times were crazy for a simplistic 2d platformer, for instance, and the new one is somehow 2 gig. not a huge deal, but I like my games to be on the small side.

Other news: Sony apparently upping their investment in downloadable games, $20 mill over the next few years to bring exclusive games in. maybe in the future it will actually be worthwhile to do a PSN tuesday topic omg.

on a side note, thats nice and all, but they still need to do other things, like making smoother and easier PS Store menus, and also, requiring demos for every downloadable game. Obviously the lack of PSN games is one problem, but most of them I'm not really gonna want to buy without a demo. I probably would have thrown down a lot less money on XBLA games this year if they didn't have demos.

man I love this ITSP demo. I could just explore this beautiful world for hours.

the game plays really well too, Im having fun shooting and dodging and such. puzzles are simple early on, but they are "ok".

ITSP demo was actually pretty good. Kinda wish there was even less combat than there actually is, though. I was really liking it when it was just exploring and grabbing everything with the hook, but when you started throwing enemies into the mix is kinda lessened things a bit for me, though the boss fight was pretty good.
