That I'm actually not sure about. I think they bought a contract for a couple of years so you should be fine for the time being but I'd need to verify it and I'm doing something right now. Maybe I'll find out in a bit!

I never watched Enterprise, but I'm sure he was better than Janeway.

Archer is kind of inconsistent and sort of crazy as Anagram can attest. But when he's good he's pretty good and sometimes when he's crazy he's at his best. Janeway's actress is a wonderful human being (like I mentioned earlier) but she fought against the all-over-the-place hell-biznatch treatment that was her character tooth and nail and barely ever got anywhere. Voyager's writers were just all kinds of inconsistent.

Dean Stockwell (Al) actually showed up for a first-season episode. The episode itself wasn't the best but it was a fun reunion for the actors and quite intentional.

Stockwell actually played a huge role in the 2003-2009 sci-fi drama Battlestar Galactica. Totally stole the show with every scene he was in. Tragically, no Bakula.

I just started watching the series pretty recently. They're playing it on the CW at night so I figured I'd give it a shot. Jumped right in to season 4 but I definitely want to watch from the beginning.

I lol'd so much at the "Qpid" episode when Q transforms the crew into Robin Hood and his Merry Men. Good stuff.

I always wondered how in these episodes, Worf and Kurn and Picard can seamlessly switch from speaking in English to speaking in Klingon. Wouldn't that cause the universal translator to explode?

you would think so! like they'll be talking in English but now it's time to be Klingon! Picard yells "Kapla." How did it know? Maybe they've got a secret button to turn the translator on and off, like in their sleeve or something.

It's definitely a secret button.

I could provide an in-depth answer if I were that kind of fan but the one thing in Trek that doesn't do it for me is the tech. I'm a captain, not an engineer.

Chang from Star Trek VI (Christopher Plummer!) is better than Kruge, I dare say. Chang's Shakespearean gig might have been much more annoying if it weren't for the masterful way in which director Nicholas Meyer had it bounce off of a bewildered Shatner's Kirk and belligerent Kelley's McCoy the whole movie.

Kruge's actor obviously gave it his all; Star Trek III just isn't exactly the best Trek film is the problem. It has some great moments but tends to drag quite a bit imo. It hurts the character.

Episode 9: The Battle
I've tried watching this like 4 times but I always fall asleep. Not because I'm bored, but because every time I start this back up it's like 2 AM and I'm tired as f***. That said, this episode was very average. I guess it was cool hearing a story of Jean-Luc's past. Also, the Ferengi suck so bad. Maybe in one of these episodes they will kill off a Ferengi vessel. It was pretty cool how the Ferengi mutinied that Damon fellow, though. That guy was annoying. I see "Q" in the title of the next episode, must be a good one!

At your current pace you won't get there for a couple of months but when you reach the third season or so, there will be some bad episodes here and there but you're going to laugh your ass off at the difference in quality overall.

I just watched The Measure of a Man (S2E9), and it was really good! I usually don't like the earlier episodes that much, but this one was legit. The trial about whether or not Data is a piece of property or a being with the ability to choose was really well done.

"Measure of a Man" is considered by many Trek aficionados as TNG's first genuine classic. All the roles were used to their fullest extent and Patrick Stewart really delivered a tour de force during the climax. It's an hour of courtroom drama done in an exceptionally entertaining and thought-provoking manner.

The idea of a "season finale" in the sense that we now know was actually a rather rare thing even as recently as 1987. That "The Neutral Zone", the first season's finale, even made remote suggestion of pending events was pretty intriguing by those standards.

TNG made a huge splash on the television industry when it ended its third season so dramatically, but that's not for current discussion. That season finale actually helped to set the standard for television of all kinds going forward.
