Episode 7: Lonely Among Us The plot was kind of boring, and it's funny how they miraculously got Picard back in his physical form. The ending just seemed really forced. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy it. There still hasn't been an episode that I haven't enjoyed. I thought this was going to be one of the episodes I remember watching back in the day but it wasn't. The Sherlock Holmes references had me convinced (in one of the episodes I remember they actually visit Sherlock Holmes, or something like that. When they step through one of the doors in the Enterprise. Or was one of them dressed as Sherlock Holmes? Don't tell me, though! I'm probably way off here, it's been like 19 years since I've seen it). Oh, and Data was the star. Just sayin'
OH YEAH DUH I'M SO EXCITED THAT LIKE IT WAS A NO-BRAINER WHY POST NO-BRAINERS RIGHT
The last two chicks I've dated have liked Trek to varying degrees and the one before that was okay with it for the most part. Hell, esurio and I watched all of TNG and DS9 together and she really, really liked DS9!

I actually watched the pilot with a chick, we saw the star trek movie together and she really liked it, hence her interest. She actually liked it, though obviously we made fun of the EFFECTZ.
also when does wesley crusher die or at least get off the opening credits, SOON PLEASE

"Emancipation" is the worst episode of Stargate SG-1. Ever.

Episode 8: Justice Eh, not much to say about the episode itself. Bunch of happy folks running around on a planet that's apparently ruled by a "god". Kind of makes you think about how limitless the universe is in that other intelligent life probably has a way of thinking/living/existing that we couldn't comprehend. Other than that it wasn't very good. Not the worst, and I'll take it, but just not real good. Moving on...
Wil Wheaton has a somewhat entertaining skit against that episode that he pulled out at a con a few weeks ago. Tears it apart and such. (He wasn't a big fan of early TNG either, for largely the same reasons that anti-Wesley peeps aren't.)

just saw Code of Honor yesterday. how could such a dumb society come up with that vaccine. The ridiculousness of the culture kind of made the episode lame.
and yeah, Lockes makes a good point. all these dudes wanting Yar so bad is kind of funny.
and oh god wesley on the damn bridge now NO MORE

I don't know if you're aware or not but Wil Wheaton, Wesley's actor, is a really well-known nerd blogger, writer and actor. I mean, if you watch Big Bang Theory you'd certainly know that, I guess, but otherwise maybe you aren't familiar.
Anyway, he rips early TNG to shreds, mainly because he can't stand how his character was written. It's really funny reading into his stories. Even as a kid he was like "seriously?" half the time.

saw "The Last Outpost" it was off and on, sometimes I liked it, sometimes it stalled. I think it mostly got boring for a little while on the planet when the firengi predictably attacked and then predictable comeback, etc. However, the opening "battle", finding out that both ships were powering down, and tricking a surrender out of them, and the firengi dude constantly commenting on how ugly humans are were all pretty good moments. And then the best was of course Riker talking to the old dude. That was a pretty badass moment. Riker RULEZ YET AGAIN.
side note, I can't help but feel Worf getting more and more upset with the lack of violence. He has gotten shut down several times now when he wanted to kick some ass, wonder if something happens with regards to that.
geordi is such a dorkazoid

I think I'm up to episode 13. Despite it not being "great' television, I still enjoy it. I guess sci-fi has always been my favorite genre. I'm really looking forward to watching through all of DS9 when it hits streaming.

I actually liked this episode, Q is awesome, Riker is cool, I thought the plot in Farpoint was pretty good, though the idea of those guys controlling the super energy monster is kinda sketchy. Patrick Stewart is definitely carrying this show at this point in acting.
EP 3: The Naked Now Lame episode, Icehawk is right about the crew "acting intoxicated" doesn't mean much if we haven't seen them "not act intoxicated."
EP 4: Code of Honor Oh god these weird tribal guys want Yar I'm not even going to watch this episode.
Actually, I'm kind of a Star Trek fan already, I've seen tons of TNG and TOS episodes, though I've seen way more of DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise. DS9 is my favourite, Voyager and Enterprise are terrible. I've never watched all of TNG before though, so I figured I'd watch it from the beginning. I've never actually seen these first 4 episodes, so I guess this is worth it. How funny I'd find this topic going right now!
*minor spoilers about Data* It's funny to me how weird Data acts. He's laughing and smiling all the time in these last 3 episodes when he just magically gets retconned to not be able to laugh later >_>

You may be surprised by how TNG-like much of the first season of DS9 is if it's been a while since you last watched it. But it's TNG-like in that it's akin to the later seasons of TNG, so it's still quite watchable.
And it's already far less up-and-down about its quality straight out of the gate. But there are a few early episodes that show you just how much better DS9 is later on.
That said, 1x19 "Duet" is one of the best episodes in the entire series.

I watched the episode "Hollow Pursuits" last night. a bit ahead of you Lockes but its an amazing Barclay / Holodeck episode. You'll really enjoy it when you get to it.

best episode so far easily for me. In sci-fi I'm just a huge fan of when we come across species that are waaay ahead of us (just like the last episode), it's always interesting to see which way the writers will go with their take on humans. The guy who thought he was a genius was hilarious also. Some interesting scenes regarding the thoughts of the characters too. Although, not to sound cruel, but Tasha's rape history is so uninteresting to me yet it has come up several times already >_>. I have a bad feeling there will be an episode or 2 revolving around it.
Also, man, they actually made Wesley kind of cool this ep! I definitely think it's a cool direction to go with the character, prodigy.

xfd yeah why do they keep bringing that up? Just seems like it doesn't belong.
Pretty much bored me. Star Trek and TNG both have way too many episodes where minds get altered by alien presences. Theres already been a few! And yeah the ending was kind of lame. The only good stuff was DATA AS SHERLOCK HOLMES

Yeah, I've rewatched TNG like thrice (plus all the times I watched the reruns even as far back as like '92 when it was still on the air and I was damn young) and DS9 like five times because it's my favorite show EVER.

Yeah, thinking back now this was my favorite episode too. That dude was hilarious and the traveler was just great. I should be starting back on this tomorrow. Nice to see so many others are watching too!
From: SBell0105 | #097 I met Janeway and John Delancy at a convention like 15 years ago.
Kate Mulgrew is really cool. I got to talk to her for like ten minutes straight a few years ago because she stepped outside the con for a cigarette and I just so happened to be nearby. She's got a fantastic personality. Terrific dry wit.
