Yeah it's my favorite game you guys all know that but still I grew bored of it after playing it for so much and took like a 4-5 months break. Picked it up again today and goddamn it's awesome.
I went for an almost 100% pure Thief character (Illusion, Block and Athletics are the only non-stealth skills) and joined the Thief Guild, just finished the second quest and it was hilarious.
It's the 2nd one from Habasi, the one in which you have to get a key to a manor from either the owner of the place or his servant. I decided to go for the owner because the servant was in a public location and I didn't want to get caught considering the fact that my Sneaking skill is low and that I suck at pickpocketing, the owner is alone so it's much easier. So yeah, I tried pickpocketing the dude and then I failed. Obviously he was mad so he started punching me while I was running around the manor picking locks on chests and doors hoping to find the key somewhere else. Couldn't find it so yeah, had to get the one of the dude but I couldn't pickpocket anymore and I didn't want to kill him either since I'm no murderer.
The only solution was to punch him into submission, my Hand-to-Hand level sucked though (10) so we punched one another for like, 30 minutes straight until he finally fell on the floor. I grabbed the key (and his gold) and dashed for the exit, leaving him there unconscious. It was so hilarious (I thought it was anyway!), two people flailing at one another for a freaking long time, the ridiculousness of the thing was amazing. I also gained 13 levels in Hand-to-Hand from that single fight, so I'm quite happy with it !
WazzupGenius00 posted... You know you can get Sovor Trandel to just give you the key by bribing him, right?
I know that, but I had just started and was poor, wanted to keep my money ! And besides that's always how I did the quest before so I wanted to try something different.
And yes punching one another for 30 minutes was fun ! Like when it takes so long that it stops being boring or annoying and just gets hilarious because of how long it takes. But I don't know, I've always been the kind of guy who find it funny when **** gets out of hands and that's IRL as well, when **** hits the fan and it's much worse than I expected it to be it just becomes so funny.
I could understand that not everybody are that way though.
SHINE GET 64 posted... someone get them for me next time they're both $5 on steam
I do know that if Morrowind is on sale on Steam and that I can afford it (a.k.a not now since no job) that I'll do a Morrowind giveaway, 5 copies or so.
Maybe I'll try Morrowind again some day, but damn did I find it lose its charm so fast.

Coffee Ninja posted... aww yeah Morrowind so good.
You going Vanilla? or using Mods?
I'll be in my BATTLESPIRE waiting a reply
....I wanted to play too.
I use mods, not many though, here's the list :
-Animal Behaviour (No crazy rats and stuff) -Bitter Coast Sounds (Official Mod) -Weathered Signs (Changes the font on signpost so they use our alphabet, I wanted a high-res version of the vanilla signs but couldn't find a good one) -Weight Fix (changes the weight of most items so it makes more sense) -Adamantium Armor (Official Mod) -100% Projectile Store chance (Does what the title say, if you hit something with a projectile you'll retrieve it at 100% chance. I'm not quite happy with this mod but the Vanilla chance is extremely low, if I was able to I'd make like a 70% chance mod) -Ring Texture Fix (Makes rings not appear black) -Atmospheric Sound Effects (Does what the title says) -SpzInterior Daylight (Makes interior windows glow during the day) -Fashionable Merchants (Stop merchants from wearing what you sell them) -Vivec Expansion (Does what the title say, add a dock and some other stuff) -Gladiator (Makes the Arena actually useful) -Better Bodies (I think this one's popular enough!) -Clean Better Caldera (Enhance Caldera, moves stuff, add some buildings, etc) -Schwaa's Potion Upgrade (Makes potion look much better, they even have glass ones with animated bubbles in them, it looks awesome) -Assassin [Insert French word for Delayed here, moddable word ._.] (French mod, probably exist in English too, stops Tribunal assassins from attacking until you get to the head of one of the guilds/houses of the game) -Illuminated Windows (Does what the title say, exterior windows glow at night) -Kirel's Weather Sounds (Add the exterior weather sounds to interior cells, so when you go in a tavern during a thunderstorm you still hear the thunderstorm while inside, though less louder obviously) -Ren's Oblivion Hair for Morrowind (More Hair, and they look awesome) -Westly's Master Headpack (More faces, they look awesome too) -Hospitality Papers (Makes the Hospitality Papers you need to do business in Sadrith Mora actually important, in Vanilla they had no use) -Gondoliers (Add animated gondoliers to Vivec) -Clean Atmospheric Balmora (Add some static items and NPC to Balmora to make it more atmospheric) -Animated Morrowind 1, 2 and Extended (Add animated NPCs to the game, like fishermen, beggars, people playing drums and lutes, etc) -Better Skulls (Texture replacer for skulls) -More Detailed Places : Ebonheart, Gnaar Mok, Khuul, Maar Gan, Dagon Fel (Make those cities more detailed as the title say, add sceneric objects, keeps the Morrowind style, doesn't feel out of place)
I have more than I thought actually ! But all of them mostly just are immersion enhancer. Also they're all high quality mods, I'm extremely picky when it comes to mods so you can be sure than none of those feel out of place, they all respect the original feel of Morrowind and you won't feel like it's community made content.
Also Screenshot of my character (with Westly's face and Ren's Hair) a Bosmer :
Would you happen to know if there's a mod that makes it so you can run without losing fatigue? I've looked all over for such a thing and never found it.

First two mods and the last one do something like that.
1st one is the Oblivion style Fatigue, so it regens while running but slowly 2nd Stop Fatigue from draining while running but you lose more when swinging weapons, jumping etc. Last one just slow down the fatigue drain.
Also I'm personally looking for good mods enhancing the lesser cities of the game (Think Vos, Ald Velothi, Tel Branora, etc). Good mods though, that stay true to the spirit of the game.
Hmm.. I forgot, I also created this topic to Talk about my favorite Morrowind LPer, Gix !
Seriously the guy is awesome, the way he gets immersed in the game makes the whole thing really interesting to watch even though it gets infuriating sometimes because he plays Morrowind like someone would play Oblivion and it's a real mistake. But still I really love watching his videos, makes me feel like I'm watching my 12 years old self playing sometimes, when everything was still new and jaw-dropping.
1st vid here :
I think the best way to describe his LP is by comparing it to a trainwreck that somehow manages to get all passangers to destination alive, though wounded and with their souls scarred. Basically he gets **** done but the hard way since he plays the same way he would play Oblivion.
Really entertaining imo ! And I know I'm not the only b8er liking this guy because I saw some of you guys commenting on his videos!
muddersmilk posted... I just like making characters in Morrowind. I've made something like 16 different characters but none of them have gotten very far in the game.
I kinda understand that. Though personally it's with the Sims, I only build houses. I also have the character problem in Icewind Dale 2 though.
Hey, Bethesda ain't saints when it comes to writing. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are pretty horrid examples of poor writing and pacing, but Morrowind isn't exactly great itself. It has more grimness and atmosphere, and better dialogue, but that's about it. The worst offenders are the monotonous NPCs who're like walking information kiosks more than people.
Anyway, I use the LGNPC (less generic NPC) mods that make NPCs... less... generic. Their dialogue, that is. So far, the largest town done is Ald-Ruhn and the Vivec Foreign Quarter. It's an excellent mod with lovely writing, and I can't recommend it strongly enough.
I also use Julan, a ****ing amazing companion mod. I won't spoil anything other than to say it goes hand-in-hand with the main quest.
Juniper's Twin Lamps, which lets you become an abolitionist with an entire quest line aimed at abolishing slavery from Morrowind. Very lore friendly.
The South Wall, which revamps the South Wall Cornerclub and makes it a more dark, tension filled place. Comes with a very well executed quest line.
And some various, short quest mods. I'd check 'em out.

So like, I went into this pub, the Red Lantern in Seyda Neen (part of the New Seyda Neen mod) and there are those 2 Imperials being rude as **** toward my girl, maybe because she's a bosmer and they're racist as sin but anyway. My character is short fused so she answered back, telling them that if they don't want to drown in one another blood that they should shut the hell up. It quickly escalated in a cascade of insults until they took out their weapons, as did my character.
So yeah, now there are two corpse lying on the floor of the Red Lantern. My character might still be level 1 but you still don't mess with her unless you like eating dirt.
Just made myself a very small mod, balancing the speed of leveling of some skills :
Acrobatics : Reduced the XP got from jumping by 20% (From 0.15 to 0.12) Armorer : Raised the XP got from a successful repair by 50% (From 0.40 to 0.60) Conjuration : Raised the XP got from a successful cast by 20% (From 1.00 to 1.20) Enchant : Doubled the XP got from a successful enchant. (From 5.00 to 10.00) -Added a new way to gain XP in enchant : Successfully striking with an enchanted weapon. The xp gained is half the XP gained from 1 second of Running (0.01 So it should still be balanced) Sneak : Raised the XP got from a successful second a sneaking by 140% (From 0.25% to 0.60%)
I felt that there were some skills that leveled too slow, and Acrobatics too fast. Some might argue that Athletics rise too fast too but I never felt that way, maybe because I don't run freaking everywhere.
I might do a mod for birthsigns later, probably one that make them fit more with their descriptions in '' The Firmament '' book. For instance giving +5 Str and -5 Per so the Warrior Birthsign (Strong but short temper).
(Oven!) (Pottery merchant) (Slave trader) (Some items, shadow shader in action) (Underwater item, I really love the shadow) (New Seyda Neen) (I really love the shadows in this one, and the rest too)
Yay ! Looks much better in-game though, I could take PNG screenshots but they'd be xbox hueg.
