Avs trade their 2012 first round pick (possibly first overall) and their second round pick (probably 31st overall or Boston's second rounder) for the rights to Varlamov (who is currently looking for teams in Russia to play with next season).

Actually after rationalizing for a moment I'm not too upset. 8 goals a season is not worth the 1.8mil a year the Flyers are giving him. They still essentially traded their core away and are trying to replace it with bit part players.

"Landed" Souray and Ryder. Finally have a good point shot for the PP, and Ryder is a much needed right shot that can score. I was a huge fan of Ryder's through the playoffs so I'm excited about that move. Thanks Boston, we're glad to have him.

Also Jagr to the Flyers kind of makes me sad. I think we all wanted to see him in a Pens sweater again.

Yeah but then it shows you the kind of character that guy really has. He snubs the team that made him who he is to sign with that no-class bunch of chodes just for a few extra dollars. Pretty unsurprising in the grand scheme of things.

I was upset about it and it disappoints me because I loved SUPERSTAR, but I'm sure the Penguins can get on fine without his 8 goals a season.

Neon what did they do when the Carter/Richards trade happened? I know I'd have absolutely flipped. That's tantamount to the Pens trading Crosby/Malkin on the same day which would have made my head explode.

Some people hate the owner some hate the GM everyone hates the trades. Looks like they got Richards out before his NTC kicked in and Snider demanded a rebuild. For spending as much as they are it just doesn't look like a great team on paper, let alone trying to put it all together on the ice.

Looked also like it shook their confidence in other players on the team. Seems like they traded the guys that really defined that team outside of Pronger.

though honestly did they really need to?

NO.

IMO, the Flyers had a top-five team league wide in terms of talent on paper. They've taken a huge step back this off-season. I don't know what's worse, the Flyers reacting to a second-round sweep by completely blowing up the team, or the Caps reacting to a second-round sweep by doing absolutely nothing.

Yeah why not take a swing with Bobs and if Pronger is healthy.. right? Well whatever. I had to take so much crap from Flyers fans last year that it's nice to read through some of the topics from the playoffs this year. I've almost always been a "sports fans are sports fans" good natured about this stuff, but, I can't help but indulge here :)

makes sense. personally i like to read the smartest fans, especially with free agent signings to get a read on how they viewed the player. but i can see the appeal of reading stupid fans
