Therefore, he needs a backup plan...and thusly, we're going to have a #2 Contender Battle Royal, with the winner advancing to Slammiversary as an alternate for Colt!

The heels control much of the match. Daivari would seem to be out of his league here, but gets his licks in with the rest, and even manages a pinfall via rollup, to his new master's delight.

Bubba Ray is suffering from the Expiring Contract Blues and just falls apart in the ring, costing Team ECW the latest chapter of their feud with the Golden Dragons.

-Round 1: Styles/Martel/Santana v. Cody/Ted/Cor Von
Fat lot of good it does them. The good guys roll this without tons of difficulty.

-Tag Titles: Freebirds (c) v. Samoans
Fight spills to the outside, where Gordy and Afa grab chairs and go to town on each other. Having predictably lost control of the match by sucking, Junior Official Tom Bombadil (ugh missed a Bombadil ref) calls for a double DQ.

-Garvin is a bit hesitant to join in the hardcore party, and this leads to Schultz and his Samoans getting the upper hand...until AMW make the save! Solie and whoever my color guy is these days note AMW's #1 Contendership earned in the pre-show.

-Semifinal: Golden Dragons v. The Following
Golden Dragons go into this looking very much like the underdog, and that's about right. Tajiri can't quite rally his troops enough to put them into the finals, and Finlay gets a pretty straightforward pin.

-Semifinal: Styles/Strike Force v. MNM/Barr
Morrison looks like he belongs here, but his sidekicks are fairly obviously a cut below the competition. Styles gets the win again.

-Guerrero is out to confront Barr, who's still down in the ring after eating the pin. Guerrero says that's what he GETS for trying to branch out on his own. He's useless, but slightly less useless under Eddie's tutelage! Jesse will always be the useless Barr to him.

-NLW World Title: Colt (c) v. Eddie
Without the ME spotlight, this is more straightforward and one-sided than their previous encounters. It's still a fight, but there's not tons of question that Colt will end up winning, and eventually he does just that.

-Finals: Team Styles v. Following
Miraculously, somehow everybody makes it through this without blowing up. Styles and Strike Force are probably the stronger three fighters, but The Following have amazing team synergy. Slater rolls up Santana while Daivari knocks Styles off the apron with a suicide spear to the outside.
Rating: 79

-Slater demands we bow down to him, the King of Trios and Master of the World. Finlay and Daivari crown him with laurels from Heathulu knows where, and Slater just poses until well after we run out of show.

Pre-show: Golden Dragons have VANQUISHED the eeeevil Team ECW! (61); RnR d. FoF (48); Cor Von is going to bounce back from his KoT disappointments because he's the Alpha Male (65)

-Slater and pals are out to the ring to celebrate the glorious triumph of the godhead. The time is right and Slater is going to challenge Cabana for the title! He puts their KoT victory over for a bit before Styles interrupts. He congratulates them on the win, but he's pretty disturbed by how quickly Daivari turned to them. Something ain't right, and he wants to get to the bottom of it. Daivari screams at him in Farsi while Slater scoffs. Regardless, Styles/Daivari is happening RIGHT NOW~

Styles spends a lot of the match trying to talk with Daivari, but the Acolyte of Slater will have none of it, and keeps up a fanatical attack. Styles is left with no choice but to put him down reluctantly.

-Team ECW come out together, a bit out of sorts after losing in Round 1. Estrada gets on the mic, and announces that their loss was understandable, as they're carrying a lot of dead weight recently. He informs Bubba Ray that his services are no longer required, as they have a better plan for the group. Dudley gets pissed, but without D-Von to back him, he's fodder for Sabu and Awesome.

-Tag Titles: Freebirds (c) v. AMW v. Samoans
The Freebirds finally explode, with Gordy first refusing to tag out, then destroying Garvin after a blind tag. Gordy leaves his partner down in the ring to be pinned by Harris, and we have new champs!

-Cabana is excited to fight Slater, and accepts the challenge from another rising star. Tonight they have a tag match, and he's going to the well with Abyss one more time.

Priceless are out for blood, and get a quick win over everybody's favorite tag jobbers.

-Priceless are upset about KoT, and call Styles/Strike Force's win a fluke. They are certain that Strike Force couldn't beat them 2 on 2, so they want a match!

-Match: Dire Wolves v. Gringos
In a night of turns, the Gringos' problems continue. Barr eats the pinfall yet again.

-Guerrero flips out on Barr, calling him the second-rate brother and lamenting the presence of the REAL other Gringo. Barr's pretty upset, and then Guerrero literally kicks him out of the ring, screaming at him to go away.

-Match: Colt and Abyss v. Following
A back and forth match until Morrison comes out halfway through and cuts a promo over the match. Predictably, Abyss goes after him, leaving Colt to fall to the doubleteam.
