She would always go on an on with this shit during our relationship.

She was "severely allergic to cinnamon". Every restaurant we went to, she would tell the chefs, it was her favorite random little fun fact about herself.

This bitch ate churros all the god damn time!!! Her favorite donuts are the cinnamon sugar ones!!! She is NOT allergic to cinnamon!!!! She tried to tell me that her mom "forgot" she had a cinnamon allergy. She's just trying to find weird ways to message me!

To be fair, I have an allergy to tomatoes. But only to raw tomatoes. I'm fine with cooked and processed tomatoes.

I've gone into a diner before, told the waitress to not give me any tomatoes on my burger because I was highly allergic... and then asked for ketchup. I'm sure she thought I was crazy or a liar, but it was perfectly valid.

I'm not even the only member of my family to have that allergy. A cousin of mine had the same thing (and I've met two other people in food services who have said they knew other people with the same deal), so I know it's not just me being weirdly psychosomatic. Even a single seed or a bit of juice from a raw tomato has made me projectile vomit before, but I can eat ketchup and pizza and spaghetti sauce just fine.

That's not that uncommon. Depending on what the specific allergen is, it can sometimes be destroyed by cooking, thanks to how much proteins get denatured when heated.

My mom actually had the exact same allergy.

Yeah my son has a peanut allergy but apparently cooking something like french fries in peanut oil is safe for him because the proteins he would react to are destroyed by high heat. We still steer clear of that sort of thing out of an abundance of caution, though

I had a severe anaphylactic reaction to what we believe was cinnamon when I was a teenager. It never had happened before and has never happened again, so it could be one of those weird things. The day it happened I had eaten a lot of things containing cinnamon, so I still eat things that contain it but just not in large amounts.

I think I'm allergic to cinnamon too. I only tried a spoonful of the stuff and was choking and coughing my eyes out.
