Depending on what the specific allergen is, it can sometimes be destroyed by cooking, thanks to how much proteins get denatured when heated. Yeah my son has a peanut allergy but apparently cooking something like french fries in peanut oil is safe for him because the proteins he would react to are destroyed by high heat.
