I've played through Platinum and Soul Silver hoping I'd run into one, so this was a long time coming

I hear in Arceus you get a free shiny ponyta buuuuut, this one is mine, I earned it

The first time I caught a Shiny that was neither a distribution event, in-game event (ie Gyarados) or deliberately hunted/increased odds (ie chain fishing) was last summer when I stumbled upon a shiny Drowzee in SoulSilver (incidentally I was simply looking for a Hypno for my living dex and didn't care that it was shiny). I also recently stumbled upon a shiny Nuzleaf in Friend Safari, looking for a completely different Pokemon altogether, but I know there are increased odds there.

Ponyta is such a good shiny. Yeah Legends kinda devalues it but oh well.

Solid Pokemon for in-game too, I overlooked it for a long time but Rapidash really came through in my SoulSilver run.

I was expecting it to be the Arceus shiny and I was ready to post the "I'm gonna tell him" meme.

My first shiny was a Machop in FireRed where my GBA battery ran out before I had a chance to catch it and save. Second was a Vulpix in the demo for that Pokemon Rumble game on the Wii way back. Still waiting on the one I actually get to catch and keep.

yea, when people say they have a Red Shiny Gyarados these days, they don't have much excitement since you get that free one in Silver, its now the same here

but I'm still proud of it

and yea Rapidash kicked ass. I was restricting myself to using Subber pokemon, and I had an Arcanine and Charizard, but when I got this Shiny, I used her instead of the remaining portion of the playthrough LOL

My actual first random shiny encounter was a shiny Venonat in the Bug Catching Contest in Gold version on the original GBC cart. Because it was Bug Catching Contest and I could only have one Pokemon and no healing items, my Pokemon was already weak from fighting other Pokemon and Venonat knocked me out before I could catch it. I was incredibly pissed. Not like I could still have it anyway due to being on a GBC cart.

My first shiny encounter was a Caterpie in...Silver? At the time I had no idea what the fuck it was, because it was before I even knew about the Red Gyarados(This was at/near release of the game, my first GBC game). So I had no idea what shinies were, I just saw the sparkles and went "cool" and killed it lol.

I then caught a zubat in Ruby, which was the first one I caught.

I have never caught a shiny. I've only knowingly encountered one in the wild, a random Granbull in Moon, but I was on autopilot and selected an attack before I realised what it was. Ah well, at least I don't care about Granbull. It's sad that shinies aren't really special anymore.

My first was a Raticate on the way to the Red Gyarados in Silver. Got two shinies in like a twenty minute timeframe.

I had a shiny Mankey I caught in Y's Friend Safari, didn't realize it was shiny until it was on its way out to Wonder Trade. Then in Alpha Sapphire I found an Electrode, which then went and did what Electrode do.

Didn't see another non-guaranteed one until a Magikarp in Violet. Woohoo.

I caught a shiny Pidove in Go today, that was neat.

First shiny I ever had was a Yanma back in Silver.

First shiny I ever got when I realized how special they were was... a Kricketune. Talk about a golden turd.

I also got a Psyduck in D/P, so that was fun. Then nothing in B/W, then an Alomamola when going for a Clauncher. Nothing in Sw/Sh or Scarlet yet.

My first shiny was a Pidgey on Route 1 right after getting the Poke Balls. I am not kidding. I caught a regular Pidgey, then BOOM, one that sparkles. Kid me, however stupid, thought something was different and caught that one too.

It's now my Mega Pidgeot. I should probably Hyper Train it.

I have always said "If I get encounter a shiny, instant master ball" because of the horror stories I hear about people missing out

especially with Geodudes/Voltorbs and their evolutions

the funny thing is, as you can see in the video, my mind WENT COMPLETELY BLANK and I just tried catching it normally

my first was a blue unown I found while emulating GSC... I think before the English version was localized

I didn't know shinies were a thing yet so I was real confused, but the fact it was emulated meant I wouldn't be keeping it anyways :(

My first and only was a shiny Marill in Diamond.

Ended up being on my team when we did a B8 gym leaders league.

you're saying you can actually get them out?

legitimacy is still kinda wishy-washy since it is using a save editor after all which can easily tweak or duplicate them, but yeah with such tools you can just simply take the data that makes up your pokemon and export it into a retail copy's save

there's a whole bunch of these Pokemon save editors over the years and I can't really remember which is for what, like I said pokesav but also pkhex, pokegen, pksm... *shrug* it's been a while for me

I'm not sure how far into the pokemon generations these tools exists for, but GBA-3DS era are all still accessible for up-trading for now
