Just started it last weekend and I have already put about 15 hours into it.

There are a few things that annoy me, but overall I am having fun.

I usually play about two open world games a year and when I do, I get obsessed with them. I will fire it up and just wander around the map looking for stuff and checking stuff off for a few hours without even realizing the time has past. I am only about 20% done with the story so far, but I figure when I want to do that I can burn through pretty fast.

And even though I have played many similar games before I am sort of blown away by just how much stuff there is in this game. So many different puzzles around the map. This is really just the largest puzzle game ever.

I need to play it properly.

The weakest is a lot of exploration is kind of artificial. You're sort of moving from checkpoint to checkpoint instead of organically finding stuff on your own, and most of what you find are just variations of like 4-5 different challenges.

Yeah basically all the puzzles are variety of several different things so after you look at it for a second you think "oh this is a _____ puzzle". But I see that as a bad and good thing. Bad side it is repetitive, but on the good side you never feel super lost because you are familiar with the mechanics.

Right now by just completing side quests and finding resources I am really overpowering myself. I am gonna be wrecking people by the end of the game.

Honestly I've seen nothing but good things about it. I'd like to get to it next year.

I think they over do it on the puzzles, but otherwise solid game.

It was fun for the while that I played it, but I dropped it without beating it. The checklist of shit to complete in the open world got boring.

Greek Adam Jensen the Narrator threw me a little.

It was decent but some of the puzzles are overly convoluted and definitely over used. It got super boring after a while though

I've done 3 areas of the island and haven't seen any new kinds of puzzles now. So far I've played 42h 49min and enjoyed it, but it's looking more and more like a ubisoft game. The combat is good even though arrows are weak and I just use them with a bow that refills health or stamina on headshots and go back to melee.

Played the hell out of it for awhile and then stopped and forgot about it. Maybe I'll go back to it one day.

You're not really exploring an open world, you're moving from icon to icon on the world map. And they're usually not really new dungeons or areas like a Bethesda game, but brief challenges or items.

I had more fun with it than Breath of the Wild tbh

expanded and improved on a lot of ideas from that game and was also clearly better in certain ways (like combat)

story/cutscenes were obnoxious tho

also it has the most bafflingly designed DLC of any game Ive ever played

Many people comment on the characters and humor of this game, and overall I think that aspect is okay, but in cutscenes these motherfuckers never shut up and they just drag on forever.

Watched my roomate play it. We both agreed the story presentation was garbage but the gameplay itself was excellent.

The way the writing was and how characters acted reminded me a lot of PS2 games

To me the most annoying part is the narration.

But really I don't think there's anything fundamentally "wrong" with the game per se.

Also actually I think another problem is that they released it less than a month after releasing AC Valhalla.

20 hours in and I realized I haven't been using the "Far Sight" mechanic, that you use to add point of interest to the map, to the full extent, I missed so much stuff on areas I thought I had fully cleared.

It took me quite a while to figure out you can use it when not on top of a viewpoint.
