Legitimately, go out of your way to watch this. Absolutely beautiful, wonderful, creative, funny, and heartfelt. It's just a masterpiece. Easily top 5 movies I've ever seen, and it touched me.

Just go watch it. No spoilers or anything. Just watch the movie. I promise you won't be disappointed at all.

Lol god no. It is artistic but NOT in any way that takes away from the movie if you don't appreciate that stuff.

A little bit more thoughts to add here now that I have a chance to settle.

This movie is a beautiful look at life that I've connected with harder than any other story. And I can't say that it's just because it was something deeply personal to me, but because there's something deeply personal for everyone here. There's some feeling that is effectively touched upon that you've probably felt about life, and your friends, and your family have felt. The issues you've felt growing up, with your significant other, or with your spot in life are all a part of this. I know that sounds massive, or it may sound a little ridiculous saying that much, but it's actually the truth. They managed to cram as much about so many walks of life in this movie as they could and it's absolutely crazy to think about after watching.

There's something truly profound about this movie that it can make you laugh and cry and is so outrageously silly yet so god damn serious about the message it wants to convey all at once. There's never a dull moment, and it starts you off slow and simple, and by the end it's this all-encompassing madness swarmed with so many ideas presented and it leaves you feeling "okay" by the end of it. Just a sense that whatever problems I've dealt with, or whatever regrets I may have, that it will be alright. I don't think I've ever experienced something that has reassured me like this film has.

I know everything I said sounds mushy, or dramatic, but this movie really is that special in a way that I don't think any other film is like it, or will ever be like it. If this gets even one more person to watch this movie, I think I'll be glad. It made me very happy for the entire run time, and I gave me a lot to meaningfully reflect on after. And from what it sounds like, a lot of people are picking up the same feelings also.

Here's the trailer for it. Check it out and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Saw it two weeks ago and it's been on my mind ever since. Amazing movie.

It's so dense with jokes while also managing to be incredibly moving. There's a bunch of stuff I missed on my first watch (such as a repeated musical gag that I can't believe I missed), so I may end up watching it again soon.

Oh, yeah. It's all over SF area, and I've been meaning to see it for two weeks now and just committed to it. I actually went to the Alamo to watch it!

Also, we STILL need to get that drink!

I went to the Alamo to see it too! I think it was one of the few theaters showing it during the limited release. Also the Alamo is awesome, so it was a good excuse to go there.

Definitely still down to get that drink. I think you're down by Hayward, right? Maybe somewhere in Oakland? I'm out of town for a bit but can hit you up when I get back.

Yeah, OK, that lived up to everything this topic told me it would be. I kinda thought it was going to be primarily an action movie, but I found myself laughing a good hundred times at little dumb shit the entire time. And cried once, but that was covered here already.

Our theater has 14 screens, and I was disappointed to see it dropped into our smallest auditorium after a double-whammy of Sonic then Fantastic Beasts taking up the majority of our screens. On the plus side,

1. It's still showing at least three times a day unlike other selections that are either gone completely or moved to once-a-day (Uncharted, CODA).

2. Yesterday was absolutely dead. Even Sonic was not bringing in the kids on Easter. However, EEAaO almost sold out its evening showing which is a very healthy sign. It should survive through The Bad Guys & Cage's Massive Talent, and might even manage to survive Dr. Strange's release for a week or two!

Uncharted, Morbius, Ambulance, The Batman, and possibly even The Lost City could fold before Everything if word-of-mouth keeps it afloat.

More people should be talking about this movie! What an incredible experience! Even going in knowing all the praise and best movie of all time comments, it still kinda exceeded my expectations. I'd really like to go see it again, but the only theater showing it around here is trash and it was way too dark. I so badly want to watch it on my OLED at home. I'll be counting down the days until it's available on 4k blu-ray!

Yep absolutely lived up to the hype. I'd be shocked it isn't getting more attention but well, it's been a huge couple weeks for movies I guess.

I absolutely love the kind of post-ironic style of comedy on display here. The movie will make a joke during a serious moment to deflate it, but then once the joke is an established part of the story it will then turn around and expect you to take it sincerely during legitimately dramatic moments. I eat that shit up, it just works. I was both surprised and not surprised to see the Russo brothers were involved here, but it makes a lot of sense. I saw people comparing it to the MCU but it's very post-MCU too: for all its success the MCU still frequently gets afraid of committing to the bit for stuff that's way less weird.

Not only that, but Ke Huy Quan had retired from acting for decades because there were so few acting opportunities for him as an adult, which makes his return here all the more triumphant. Everyone in this film is great but he was really an unexpected emotional anchor of this film and really acted it like it meant something to him. Can't say enough good things about his performance, he deserves a damn oscar nomination for supporting actor for this.

Yeah that was a really cool comeback role for a child actor. I knew he seemed familiar but I couldn't place it, never would have made the connection to Goonies/Temple of Doom.

This movie hit all the right notes and then some, great theater experience not so much for the size of the screen but the catharsis of sharing a happy cry with a bunch of strangers. Thanks for the recommendation!

It is so weird that Quan's last role before retirement back in 2002 was in a movie that apparently also involved multiverses. And also after landing this role he got a role in another movie because it was being described as "Indiana Jones meets the Goonies," which he was in both of.

There is like a narrative arc to his real life career that somehow feels in line thematically with his character here. Absolutely insane. I hope to see more of him.

I've seen a lot of people talk about their audience and how it's a theater movie because of the audience interaction, but I had one of the weirdest audiences I think I've ever experienced? There weren't many of us, maybe 20 at most but it was almost entirely silent the entire time, so much so that I felt awkward laughing at stuff like I was the one missing something. And then when it ended, not a single person moved or got up or even really talked for a few minutes. I was the first to leave after checking if there was any post credit stuff to stay for. It was just incredibly odd.
