Not only that, but Ke Huy Quan had retired from acting for decades because there were so few acting opportunities for him as an adult, which makes his return here all the more triumphant. Everyone in this film is great but he was really an unexpected emotional anchor of this film and really acted it like it meant something to him. Can't say enough good things about his performance, he deserves a damn oscar nomination for supporting actor for this.

It is so weird that Quan's last role before retirement back in 2002 was in a movie that apparently also involved multiverses. And also after landing this role he got a role in another movie because it was being described as "Indiana Jones meets the Goonies," which he was in both of.

There is like a narrative arc to his real life career that somehow feels in line thematically with his character here. Absolutely insane. I hope to see more of him.
