Not quite like the old folders on 3DS / WiiU, these Groups are more like what is on Steam. You can have a game in multiple groups, such as RPG and Action, while you could use only one folder for a game on the previous systems.

They're badly implemented though. They're not visible on the main screen; you have to go to your full library and then press a shoulder button, so there's little point. They already did better than this with the 3DS..

I mean, if you're looking for something that isn't already in the 3-4 most recently-played games (which you wouldn't want to sift through any sort of sub-structure to find in the first place) on your list, you're probably going to be using the full library view anyway. I think there should be an option to choose whether group view or full library view is the default when you go to your full library, but I can understand taking this approach instead of what the 3DS did. Especially so where it's not a folder structure so much as it is searching by tags that you add.

i almost never go into it, because it's all the fucking way to the right and it's not worth the effort to go over there. same issue the ps4, and probably 5, have. as a result, i don't even have any idea what's installed on my ps4 or switch.

now if the full library was just one of the little icons underneath the big ones, like the store is, then sure, i'd probably go there more often.

but it's not, so i don't, because it's fucking stupid

Then you're not going to get to the rest of your library anyway and being able to organize it into folders doesn't make much of a difference.

Its also one to the left. So, its actually faster to go to that than most of the games in the list (meaning either the first of second game). Once you push right twice, youve wasted more time than it would take to get to the full library

I want demos to be in a folder and not mixed in with the full games. With the weird way they implemented this feature, I have to have a folder with everything but the demos to get what I want.

While certainly an issue (one that could be solved pretty easily by adding an option to set your default to only show "Uncategorized" things), how many demos do you have that you need to formally organize them? In my experience, demos tend to be pretty short-lived: I download them, I either play them a day or two later or I forget about them indefinitely, then I delete them after making a decision on whether or not to buy the game (unless the data carries over, in which case I save them until I buy the game). I very rarely have more than one or two downloaded.

Again, though, folders and other organization are really only relevant for games you haven't played in a while, so having to sift through a couple layers of organization to get to them is so infrequent that it's not a huge deal. Anything you're currently playing will be at the front of the list, making further organization irrelevant unless you're the sort of person who has a dozen games on the go at once (in which case, make a "currently playing" folder and add/remove things as needed).

I have a ton of demos. And usually keep them. Unless I buy the real game. If I do, I transfer data and then delete them. Other than that, I have all my demos

I can't say I understand that. Demos generally don't have enough depth to be worth playing more than once, especially when you don't like them enough to actually purchase the game. Why so many?

You finally have a place where you know where on the screen a game will be, but it's just as cumbersome to get to as when you had to search for it.

It streamlines finding a game that you haven't played recently, and finding a game that you have played recently is already straightforward enough that it doesn't really need streamlining (unless, again, you're the sort to have a dozen games on the go at once, in which case a "Currently Playing" group is still going to benefit you). It is indeed a suboptimal, somewhat cumbersome way to do it that leaves plenty of room for improvement (because it's Nintendo), but it's still at least somewhat beneficial.

Depends. Sometimes, I just havent had time to try it out. Sometimes, I know I want the real one and have to wait until I get it. Sometimes, I might want to play it again (or more). Or plenty of other reasons

Meanwhile, those of us with a physical library just have to pop the cartridge in and don't have to worry about endlessly scrolling to find it.

I do like being able to do that

I guess this means we can expect to hear about their next system sometime soon. Don't you worry, it will be massively gimmicky, and the older games you can find will still be at full price until they become collector's items; then they'll be worth hundred of dollars.

I do that too. What annoys me is that they move around on their own when they download an update. Then I have to pop in 4-10 cartridges to put them back into the order I want.

I know, right? you get your games in the order you want and then an update comes down the pipe and you have to reorder it or the goblins in our head get angry.

I never re-order to just have my games in order. I dont have that much time to waste I might do it for certain pics, though
