Just finished the tutorial area.

It's been a long time since I picked up the new AAA videogame. Feels exactly the same as the first one from what I can remember.

From what I'm hearing it sounds really good! I'd get it myself, but Elden Ring is coming out in a week

Im definitely not waiting on Horizon because of Elden Ring. Im waiting on Horizon because I never started the first one.

I want to get it but come on, it'll be 20$ by black friday this year, I can wait.

I think I was just desperate for something to play on the PS5; I'll probably drop it for Elden Ring. But if my experience with From games is anything, I'll drop that for being too hard, lol

I'm too tired for this lol. I've been at it over an hour and still not nearly through the tutorial section. My eyes are very tired. Definitely gonna play a lot of it this weekend.

Decided to get Elden Ring instead. I just played thru Zero Dawn and Frozen Wilds last year, so "more of the same" isn't what I'm looking for right now. So I'll wait a year or two for another "Complete Edition" with all the DLC.

Yeah, I think I spent like 80-90 hours playing through it all. Tons of fun though, great world, interesting combat. Bad load times, bad menu system, too many "use detective vision to follow the path" missions in the main game.

Ordered with Elden Ring, can only get to it after that game. Really excited to play it but Elden Ring is Elden Ring so that takes priority.

Just got to Meridian and it's definitely good so far. Liking the expanded skill trees, and valor surges should be fun. I know it's going to feel a lot like zero dawn but I don't care. There's plenty of new stuff and I know it's going to be awesome

I want to get it but I have a launch PS4. I'm not bothering until I get a PS5.

I'm stuck with ps4 for at least another year I would guess, so pulled the trigger on it. I'll start it later today.

Really excited. Haven't been this hyped since TLOU2.

I still haven't played the first one. I considered doing that before it, but coming out between Arceus Legends and Elden Ring, two games that have loads of hours in them and are higher priorities for me simply didn't make that possible.

My roommate has it though. He said that the tutorial was a bit of a drag but it got going after that. Felt to him like they had a hard time starting the sequel.

Okay thank God because I feel like it's dragging to. Glad it wasn't just me and that it picks up.

So something really weird just happened. I fought a Thunderjaw just for laughs but then when it killed me I spawned like a mile away in a section of the map I've never been to before.

i played the original for maybe 10 or so hours, then put it down for a month or so because i had to move

when i came back to the game, i was completely overwhelmed by all the abilities and stuff in my inventory- plus the seemingly complicated monsters in the new area- and I just never finished it

My stupid gym double charged me for my trainer which didn't leave enough in my account to cover the game charge so now I'm still waiting on my copy. It really pisses me off cause I literally (partly) took off work just to have a good chunk of time I could sink into it. It said it was going to be here today but then it changed this morning to tomorrow so I have no idea when I'll finally get to play it _

I've died twice now because I keep forgetting that the circle button, when climbing, does not make you jump down. it makes you jump in the clear opposite direction for some reason.

Looks like a lot of people are saying it looks horrible on ps5, being way too grainy and sharp. I honestly didn't even notice and think it looks great...
Are people just being nitpicky complainers or am I just somehow blind to these egregious visual flaws?

It's a big ps exclusive with a female protagonist who has been slightly redesigned(?) to be """less attractive""" so a lot of the discourse surrounding it is going to be intentionally nitpicky bad faith bs

Some may feel it's a big flaw but not as many as you'd think

Unfortunately that makes sense I guess. I never did understand all the stuff with TLOU2, nor do I understand it with this. People are weird. But I don't really want this to turn into a discussion about all that.
As far the visuals I am noticing that it could benefit from some softening but it still doesn't bother me much

I did not. I'm not sure if you should enlighten me or not.

Oh she apparently also has like a fatter face or something, to say nothing of the absolute lunacy that was the beard criticism. Then there's stuff about her being asexual. Basically it's all shit and, like with TLOU2, a lot of the criticism is ultimately coming from there - this is an "sjw game" with an "intentionally less attractive strong female protagonist" so that means any glitch, or reused animation, means the developers didn't care or were too busy pushing an sjw agenda to make a good game or whatever the fuck.

No doubt there are people out there who think some tiny error is a gamebreaker but the vast majority talking about it are pretending to care to lend credence to other criticisms, I would guess

aloy looks good in this game. all the characters do.

I haven't had any issues with the PS5 version on performance so far. On day one I briefly experienced the "shimmering" issue after exiting to the menu and quickly continuing. haven't had it since.

Yeah I think they actually fixed the shimmering thing already. The characters do look great especially in the cutscenes. The chef guy in particular, talking to him I was thinking it's the most real looking npc I've ever seen

yeah the npc work is extremely impressive. maybe the first time I haven't experienced any uncanny valley type sensation. it's even good during the side quest dialogue, unlike something like 7 remake, which reverts to PS2 level mocap when picking up a quest.

I finally got in my copy today and immediately ran into a game-breaking bug and had to reload :/
I was supposed to examine that carcass you find but Varl had just disappeared somewhere and it wouldn't let me continue without him.

I did it for the trophy contest (which after 15 weeks finally ends tomorrow morning) so I can get the plat in the PS4 version, then transfer my save to the PS5 version to auto pop those

Since it is the PS4 version I basically rushed the main quests and skipped all cutscenes since it runs fairly poorly on that. You have to do some side content, but definitely not all of it.

I'll save a proper playthrough for when I play the PS5 version

I will say your traversal options in the endgame is rad

Oh wow does it really run that badly? I hadn't heard much about the PS4 version yet.

I've played for about 3 or 4 hours so far and my thoughts so far are "maybe I didn't actually need another one of these games".

I know the beginning is probably really slow but it does just feel like I'm just playing the first game again so far.

I've heard that it gets way more interesting after you get out of tutorial valley. But I'm not there yet so I'm not sure why or what that entails.
