You might be surprised to hear that a lot of people actually do worry about their food being tampered with at restaurants..but moreso for fast food because it is being prepared by teens and you know teens can be assholes if they wanted to and spit in your food though that usually only happens if the customer is a jerk..

No. Unless you might supposedly harass the staff, they will not comtaminate the food in my opinion. might believe the teens part though going on dares more, but I still doubt it for the most part if you're good.

Unless you deserve it then it's not going to happen.

No because I treat people right by saying thank you etc and I always tip as well so I try to cover the bases.

Getting into a confrontation with the people preparing your food is never a good idea.

I've worked in enough restaurants to know it's not tolerated. When I was a kitchen manager, I saw a kid under me get super mad because a customer asked for extra chips to-go while he was trying to clean his station, he was angry he had to fry up more chips. I watched him fry the chips, put them in the to-go bag, and then walk around the corner out of my eyeline, before returning to the kitchen and putting them in the window. I opened the bag and checked it before it was grabbed to take to the table, and I saw he had spit in it. I fired him on the spot and made new chips.

Quite frankly, I'm much more concerned with the overall cleanliness of the kitchen in restaurants than I am from someone spitting in my food. Are the grills and fryers cleaned consistently? Were the veggies prepped that day for that shift?

Yes. It's a definite concern for me. I treat the restaurant workers w/ respect and am very careful about my tone and wording, even if they have been very incompetent/lazy/unprofessional and raising my voice would be understandable.
Partly b/c I've worked in customer service and know how much it sucks. But also especially for food service b/c I've always known, "don't piss off the people handling your food."

Fast Food might actually be less of a concern since a lot of them, you can see the workers preparing your food from the counter. And I always make sure to watch...

A lot of servers may not be thinking of the consequences or think they can do it w/o being caught. and lol, no. They'd get a few years in prison at most.

How naive... Some people are just ass holes. And there's already been news reports of food service workers and chefs not washing their hands from the bathroom, so there's a chance it could happen from sheer carelessness / laziness.

I've never worried about this. I eat at many hospitality venues and my brother actually works in the hospitality industry.

I do worry about it. I'm super nice to waiters and stuff. And try not to bother them too much. Always give them thanks and stuff. But I still worry. Like what if someone (cook, waiter, etc...) mistake you for someone else? Or think you said/did something you didn't say/do? Or someone was just mean or something... But it's really just an irrational fear...

Why do you guys think being nice keeps people from fucking with your food? They could be having a bad day and hate making whatever you ordered, so they fuck with it.

I've just come to terms with the fact that it could happen and just hope it doesn't.

I don't think being nice will cause it not to happen. Like I said, people could do it for any reason. But being nice means it would have a lesser chance of happening than if you were mean to them...
