The bathroom at my house has bright lights so I always thought my teeth were okay, but the work bathroom is less forgiving, so the other day I took a long hard look and they are somewhat yellow. Not awful but definitely not pretty.

I see a lot of weird things on the internet. I really just plan on brushing my teeth more often and longer during each session, and I floss regularly anyways. I just don't know if there is anything else I need to be doing. I don't feel like concocting a wives tail tooth whitening paste but there might me something doctors reccomend I can do aside from brushing more often

Teeth yellow naturally as you age. If you want them to be white youve either gotta use the whitening kits regularly or make a dentist appointment and let them bleach your teeth

I know that, but my teeth are actually yellow from a) smoking weed and b) mismanagement. I brush once a day usually, for pretty much my entire life. but I've been trying to step it up in the past week. I am going to shoot for 2x a day for 2 minutes each time and see if that helps. I actually enjoy flossing so my flossing habits are good.

Either OTC whitening products (and I don't just mean whitening toothpaste) or a dentist. The way you describe it, you'd probably need a dentist.

Normal brushing won't do anything to whiten your teeth, although it could have helped to prevent at least some problems in the first place.

Electric toothbrush + whitening toothpaste + brushing twice a day + chewing gum seem to do the trick well enough for me. If you're going for a picture perfect pure white that's not enough, but it keeps my teeth from being repulsively yellow

As long as you smoke your teeth will never be white. That's a no brainer. Even if you got them professionally done they'd just quickly go back to looking like that. My teeth are not celebrity white but look good enough for me to get compliments. I worked in retail and banking years ago and got told by customers more than once I got really nice teeth. Thats despite the fact I'm inconsistent with flossing and brushing more than once a day. And also I drink loads of tea which stains your teeth. Thats the reasons why they're not perfectly pearly white but even all those factors combined is nowhere as bad as if I smoked.

Mouthwash then brush.Try those dollar store floss picks. Brush shortly after dinner, or the meal you sit down at home. Try different kinds of toothpaste like charcoal, or teeth whitening, and dont be afraid to replace your toothbrush.

All I am asking for is a few shades whiter, and not pristine white, because since I do inhale stuff and the occasional oral tobacco use(been a while though) that ain't happening.

But I do feel like they are kinda gross, so making them better is what I want to do. I am also going to schedule a cleaning soon though.

As for now I'm just brushing minimum 2 times a day, after meals if I can remember, and trying to do two minutes at a time, which i've never done.

I'm telling you, get an electric toothbrush. Most of them now automatically time it to two minutes. Just get a legit one that's got interchangeable heads and rechargeable batteries, not one of the cheap disposable ones

Hydrogen peroxide. Pretty sure that and baking soda are in most whitening products.

Brush twice a day with electric toothbrush and whitening paste

For toilet bowl white, you gotta use strips or professional treatments

Arm & Hammer Spinbrush. It's halfway between a disposable and a rechargeable. The heads are replaceable and it uses AA batteries (which last a long time). Sure you have to pay for batteries, but the whole thing only costs about $10, and the replacement heads are about $3-4 each so I think you come out slightly ahead of buying a fancy rechargeable. And the batteries are infinitely replaceable, unlike the rechargeables when their battery wears out.

If you have about $15 or $20 grand lying around that's a start.
