I assume it will be playable offline. But will have to go online to get all your games and updates. I also wonder how many games you can put on at once for offline play...

I can see this going to way of the NVidia Shield (which, unless I am remembering incorrectly, Valve tried to copy as well). Very niche, and probably not successful enough to warrant any significant change in the market.
