Every decade is the new previous decade. It's stupid.

If you're 30, you're 30.
I turned 40, I turned 40, I didn't go waving my arms saying 'Ooo life begins now' because frankly, if you've left it that late for your life to somehow begin, you're an idiot.

I mean, I get the sentiment.. but.. no.

Because Millennials (like myself) grew up being "the nostalgic generation" it makes sense that people could view it like that, but it's genuinely the fact that our generation broke down a lot of barriers regarding relationships, hobbies and other things. getting a job drawing dumb logos is actually... a great job these days (some times). back then it was all about news papers.

it's not "the new 20" its times changing.

Me too.

I was chronically depressed all of my youth until about 28 when I made great efforts to improve my life. And now at 30 I'm the happiest I've ever been

I mean the meaning behind that is that since everyone keeps living progressively longer and better, (usually, you can keep a pretty good and active quality of life well into your 80s nowadays) that 30 is still pretty young in the grand scheme of things and it's therefore "acceptable" for you to feel/still behave like you're in your 20s.

I definitely agree with that. I spent a non-negligible chunk of my 20s either depressed, sick, or isolating through a pandemic. I still got a few years left until my 30s but I'm gonna be making up for lost time through them

I'm in my 30s, but what is the "new" 20, exactly?

Unless 20 stopped being 20 and transitioned to being the "old" 20 (so 30 could presumably take over) while I was still around 20, how would I even know the difference?

Success wise it was only my mid to late 20s things really fell into place, most people are poor in their 20s though, its your 30s when you start making good money.

i have more then doubled my wealth in my 30s since I actually know what Im doing now. Much happier now too since I can afford what I need and enjoy the fun money more.

The accuracy of that statement depends on how you age, which boils down to lifestyle choices, genetics, and luck.

I have friends in and around my age (36) who have repeatedly abused their bodies through drinking, smoking, obesity, etc.. and their wear and tear are REALLY starting to show.

QoL essentially. The things boomers easily had by their mid 20s millennials are only just now(hopefully) are obtaining by their 30s. Like a stable job, career, wealth, and assets like a house.

The latter most being difficult not just becuase of housing prices but that settling down in a single location makes little sense to most youths.

Nah. That kind of statement has been used somewhat legitimately by older people in regards to medicine/lifestyle changes that have taken hold in society but theres no way a 30 y.o. Is like a 20 y.o. It goes beyond the physical aspect to just an experience and station in life aspect. 20 is an age when potential is swirling all around you. If you dont have shit going for you at 30, then thats separate. If it makes you feel better, up until 35 or so is still considered young by older peeps.

People who abuse the shit out of their bodies in their 20s are often the ones who feel old in their 30s. Being a hardcore booze hound or do major substance abuse and do not get much rest yeah your body is going to be worn out in your 30s.

People who take care of themselves will be loving their 30s as they can do much more as the money is there.

Partly that and mostly the fact people are getting married later, having kids later, and living longer.

Its weird some people itt seem upset by this tbg. Also that saying has been around for decades already.

I'm better off physically and for sure financially at 31 than I was at 21. I don't really have regrets about how I spent my 20s and I don't really resent being older. I still play video games and board games just like when I was a kid

But I do feel older. It's not exactly physical or mental, it's social. Like, I watched modern family for the first time recently and identified with the parents more than the kids. Not because I have kids but because where I'm at in life is more like that. It's not that I have no opportunities at 30, I have plenty. But it's not an open set of possibilities like it was back then; I considered moving to new york to go to school for game design or joining the peace corps back then, I would need to give up too much to do those things now. If I were to do them, it would be later in life perhaps.

That's just how I feel different though

I spent my 20s stagnating and wasting away, but not really knowing I was.

Now that I'm 30, I've started therapy and began dealing with my anxiety and depression. So while I still feel like I'm doing nothing with myself, I'm at least addressing problems I've had that lead me to be in this place.

Hopefully at some point I'll be able to actually live my life.

The 30's are almost universally considered a man's prime. Being a man in your 20's is basically dog shit. You are hustling through school and accumulating debt, when you graduate you are the most poorly paid person in your office and working twice as hard as the old fucks who get paid more than you simply because experience. You probably won't afford a home until mid to late 20's even if your degree is good and won't have a ligitimately great house probably until your 30's.

You have a brief window to party in college, but truth be told, all the people who partied super hard in college either drop out or had blow off degrees and pay the price later. Dating in 20's is harder because literally every metric of man from early 20's to 40's likes women in their 20's so you are competing with pretty much every man in the planet, most of which have a lot more to offer because you're young and broke. Meanwhile, dating women in their 30's is easy mode for a halfway decent guy in their 30's and you can still date much younger if you want, especially of you still maintained your looks, and the money will certainly be there much more than in your 20's.

So yeah, 30's really doesn't need to be the new 20's, 20's are overrated af anyways. I think this saying applies more to women as women's dating prospects definately peak in their 20's due to looks, but really has never applied to men.

Sort of, millenials took exercise to a new height. Just that alone will give us good returns in the youth department. I know a lot of folks who are 30 who woke up from like a hypnotic state of self destruction and are getting their life together now by quitting drugs and stuff. That will also pay off in the looks department and we will appear younger. With that said, there is a certain sense of genuine innocence one has in their 20s, it tends to be where we make most of our mistakes as we transition from high school to adulthood. On the flip side i know guys who are in their 30s behaving like children still, all they care about still is crushing pussy, and its even worse than in the 20s cuz they do it with married women most of the time or single mothers with no intention to actually be a father figure. Its pretty messed up. Those guys will have their reward in full though. If you are 30 this is the absolute best time to get your life together.
