Example.

I love the virtual console, it's what convinced me to buy a Wii U. Does the switch have virtual console?

"Yes, absolutely! You can buy all the greatest NES, SNES and N64 games right on the eshop."

I immediately called him out on his BS lie and promptly left to buy my switch at another establishment.

It's one thing to push sales for a game or system, it's completely different to tell outright lies in order to do so.

Seeded questions to determine what type of person you're dealing with. Helps to know if you can or can't trust someone. I assume everyone here is a weeb.

Had he told me the truth, and perhaps mentioned that Nintendo has an online service that comes with a netflix style NES library I would have made my purchase there. Honesty trumps. It's like taking your car in for an oil change and having the mechanic try to convince you there's $1,000 worth of repairs that needs to be done to your car. When in reality, the car is fine.

Maybe if the first post (and all subsequent ones) didn't straight up call me a liar I wouldn't have responded with such hostility.

What's so hard to believe though? Gamestop is well known for their underhanded methods for pushing sales. I can argue that it happened until I turn blue in the face but if you don't want to believe me, you won't. So I take the opposite approach. You give me shit and I sling it back at you.

While I do like anime, I tend to stick with movies or one-off series (if it's more than 2 or 3 seasons it's automatically a "do not watch" for me). I don't see how hating on FFXV or trolling smash boards makes me a weeb though.

It just so happens that those franchises are 'trending' (what with the Geno fanboys and Tabata getting fired) so there's lots of salty fanboys to mess with.

If there was a big controversy surrounding Halo or The Witcher I would probably be there instead.

it's a type of virtual console

But can you buy all the greatest NES, SNES, and N64 games there?

I picked out dragon age origins and gave it to my mom to pay for while I looked around, the employee showed her the awakening dlc for the game and told her it was the better version or something like that and she bought me that instead without asking me, though I probably would've agreed to buying it instead too cuz I was kinda new to the whole dlc thing. So yea, we had to go back some days later to actually get the game :/

I'm not entirely sure he was lying though, he might've just been stupid.

It might have been because aside for the OP, you started off very hostile. The post you were being hostile just said something that most likely didn't call for that level of hostility. And that can hurt your credibility. Also, it seems weird that you would do that. I heard you reasons for it. But it still does seem weird...

You say weird as if nobody does anything weird. Would you have believed that some random guy trashed a gamestop because they wouldn't refund his copy of fallout 76 if you hadn't seen the video? That's pretty dumb, and weird, but it happened. Besides, there was a walmart within spitting distance of the gamestop. It's not like I drove 50 miles out of my way because they lied to me. I just went next door essentially.

There's also the time that gamestop let me buy a Ps4 (uncharted bundle) and Fallout 4 the day before they started giving it away for free with that bundle. Maybe it's just me being a nice guy, but I think I would have told the customer to come back the following day for a better deal.

Sure, it's a few extra dollars today, but if you do things that saves the customer money, you create loyalty and earn more $ in the future. When you do shitty things like that, you cause them find other places to shop.

Yeah, plenty of people that work at Gamestop know very little about games. Years ago when I used to still shop there I sometimes had to help them find the game I was looking for because I wasn't asking about the latest BIG title that they all were drilled on.

I would name a title of a semi-obscure game and then they would look at me like "huh". Acting like the Gamestop employees are bastions of immense knowledge is a fucking joke.

Yeah. Most of them are pretty bad. When I went, I would usually try to talk to whichever one I felt knew about games. And Im not trying to sound sexist, but it was usually the females who would know more. And I would tend to talk to them more about stuff. From what I was looking for to a game we had both played.

That's too bad that he had his information incorrect, but you're making a large deal out of a nonissue. Did you not already have this information before? True, someone else could definitely have an unfortunate experience purchasing something without the right information. I'm sure they could return it.

If you want to be a constructive asshole, go back to the Gamestop and inform a manager that some training is needed. That being said, I've worked at many a business, and some places simply train poorly. It pays to be an informed customer, since most places are getting by on cheap, ie young and uninformed, labor.

Considering the guy owned a switch himself (I know this because he told me how much fun he had playing Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild) I think he would know whether or not it had VC. Plus there's the fact he was confident that it had not only NES, but SNES and N64 as well, (I even asked him about Earthbound, which he said was on there) this guy was clearly a gamer. He was lying to push a sale. If he didn't know, he was still lying by not just simply telling me he wasn't sure.

Defend him all you want, but I've had multiple issues with this same guy lying. He tried to push me to pre-order fallout 76 because I merely mentioned I was mildly interested in the game. He told me with confidence that the beta would be available by the end of the week. And this was during a period where literally nobody knew when it would be rolling out. The guy is a shady asshole who lies to customers to get shit out the door. I'm fine with pushing power up rewards, pre-orders and whatever else they want to try and sell you. But when they straight up lie, it's a problem.

Besides, it's not like I've tried to have him fired. Just calling him out on his bullshit. Stop defending this dirtbag.

Never caught one lying to me but in a similar boat to tc I had one try way to hard to push the sale of a specific version of a Xbox 360 I ended up going to Walmart and buying a new one despite I desired to buy used.

I kept saying I want this one but then she'd try talking up this other one but that I had to wait a couple of days because they didn't have it at the moment but they could order it. All the extra perks didn't interest me a game a i didn't want and a hard drive. Already had a hard drive my brother gave me cause his crapped out on him( the system not the hard drive)

We went back and forth for about 10 minutes. Bitch just would not sale me the one I wanted so I walked.

That is pretty much my only negative experience at GameStop.
