Pretty sure that the citizenship claim generally only works if they're being held in a nation where they don't also have citizenship. More importantly -- and assuming this is true -- if push came to shove, they'd likely be allowed to leave, given that the nation is already experiencing massive blowback.

If the "missing 28 pages" didn't make it abundantly clear that we invaded the wrong country--twice, this is unlikely to move the needle.*

*I'm ok with a post-Saddam Hussein world as I think if he were still around I think that Iran and Iraq would be in a nuclear arms race by now...but I was never cool with knowing that war was started on lies. Still not sure on where I stand with Afghanistan...but Pakistan still has some explaining to do with OBL found in an armored compound just down the road from their version of West Point.

To be fair, most of the media doesn't hate Trump. Some of the more biased Left-leaning sites online do (mainly the ones who have embraced the New Journalism philosophy that all news should basically border on being op ed pieces that tell you more about how the writer thinks than presenting the news in a factual, unbiased fashion), but they're also the ones that are easiest to ignore.

BUT, most of the rest of the media have discovered that apparently any story they run about Trump instantly generates traffic or ratings, because people on both sides of the divide are kind of obsessed with the man. So they're basically going to run articles about him every single day, from now until the day he leaves office, no matter how minor or poorly researched. Because in the 24-hour ratings-driven scoop-focused news cycle, the absolute last thing that actually matters to anyone is "truth".

For all the cries about how biased news is these days, it's rarely politics or ideology that motivates the news. It's profit and greed.

The irony is, it seems like the constant stream of never-ending petty articles and minor sniping (with the occasional major issue tucked in between all the bullshit) has essentially galvanized most of the people who supported Trump in the first place to support him even harder, because it comes across like he's being deliberately and unfairly persecuted. There's a very real chance he'll manage to get reelected next time more or less solely because these news sources couldn't shut the fuck up about him (and those same sources will absolutely love it, because it will mean four more years of ratings/clicks).

While there are certainly economic incentives helping to drive coverage, there's a hard-to-ignore bias as well. And a politically-motivated hatred of Trump is hardly exclusive to liberals since establishment Republicans don't seem to like him much either. Mitt Romney had that whole 20 minute diss track.
