... what are you waiting for? Curious what people here want from the current console gen. If you aren't interested in consoles, feel free to comment about it but this topic is more aimed at those who are interested but are waiting for whatever reason.

I have a Switch and PS4. Want an Xbone but I'm waiting for a price drop. There's only a handful of games I want to play on it. Namely Cuphead, the Ori games (if the second one is out yet), maybe Sunset Overdrive... probably a few others I'm not thinking of. I don't do any PC gaming any more. I've been wanting to play some of the Xbox "exclusives" for a while, but can't justify the price of the system for the games I want to play.

I only have a PS4 over Xbox because that's what most of my friends play. I would have snagged an Xbox over PS4 this gen for sure. Had a Switch since Day 1!

I have all of them. Also, Sunset Overdrive was awesome!

Tempted to get a PS4, but there are really only 2-3 games I want for it and paying $300 (since I refuse to buy used) for a console I will play for a few months then never again doesn't seem worth it.

I might get a PS Now Subscription for my PC since all of the games I want (and a few PS2 games I missed back in the day) are on it, and in the long run it will be a lot cheaper to go that route ($100 for a year plus $60 for a controller, vs $300 for a console and $100+ for the 3 games I want).

Price was/is my main barrier. But last Black Friday the PS4 Slim was $150 with an extra $50 gift card thrown in, so I jumped on it.

Still holding off on a Switch, though I'm not quite as eager to get one as the PS4. I have absolutely zero interest in X1 though.. if I got one for free I'd most likely sell it; I'd only keep it if it was a gift.

Also, I'm a Wii U owner and am still kind of ticked off at how quickly and completely Nintendo abandoned us. Sony literally will put out games for their prior gen system for 4+ years, and Wii U isn't even a "prior gen" system...
Having BotW on Wii U at least made it easier to wait. I'm still eager to play Xenoblade 2 and when it comes out, Bayonetta 3. Expecting to get Switch around Black Friday this year if there's a good deal.

Ive been waiting to see how Gen 8 of Pokemon turns out to decide on whether or not to grab a switch. Im not really expecting to get one at this point but we shall see.

Lionhead is dead and the gen is almost over without seeing someone else make Fable 4 let alone 5 so i dont expect to ever get an X1.

Given most XBOne games get PC releases as well, the only real exclusive I want is Sunset Overdrive, which has rumours of a PC release hanging around thanks to the South Korean ratings board.

There will be a new improved Switch. The current one is a PoS.

I got screwed with the original 3DS. My top screen got grooves because I dared carry it around in my pocket.

I have an original, Gears and Scorpio, and a PS4 Pro. Unsure what anyone would be holding off on. Been trying to sell mine (original) for two years now, but refuse to lower the price any further.

My interest in gaming has been pretty low for years now. I am somewhat interested in the PS4 and Switch, but my financial situation hasn't been stable enough in the past year where I've felt comfortable dropping hundreds of dollars on systems I may not end up playing all that much.

I'm mostly a portable gamer. Each console generation since Dreamcast/PS2/Xbox has become less desirable, less user-friendly, more restricted in library. I have a PS3 as an external hard drive for PSP and Vita, and got myself an X360 last Christmas for Forza. Eventually I'll get an X1 for Forza and Rare Replay, but I can wait until price bottoms out after the next generation has been out for a few years.

Not really. Uncharted's a big-name AAA title made by a first-party studio, in a franchise that's been well-established as an exclusive. It's obviously affiliated with Sony. Nothing obvious sets Cuphead apart from any other number of other indie games that are multiplat, and it's not part of any sort of existing franchise that would provide any sort of precedent. Cuphead being MS-exclusive seems entirely arbitrary for anyone casually looking at it.

Exceptions exist. That doesn't change that Cuphead was an indie game with no franchise recognition to make it more noticeable. Anyone looking to get it would have paid attention to which platforms it was on, but for any casual observer, there was nothing to make them suspect exclusivity.

Considering getting a switch but I feel like I wouldnt play it enough to justify the money. Im really bad for just playing with my online friends so it usually means were playing some sort of shooter together instead of working into the back log of games. The idea of playing the new Zelda is appealing but last year I bought a GameCube and wind waker anyways and only put about 30 minutes into the game.

You do realize that the idea of 3rd party exclusives existed long before this generation right? And if anything they were way more common back then as well?

It makes sense that something would be XBox and PC exclusive because the architecture for those two systems is nearly identical. PS4 (while closer to a PC then it used to be) still requires extra work to convert that the team probably didn't want to spend.

We get 10% off everything. I'm in Canada but I've read that in the US you dont get a discount on food which is pretty bad. Saving 10%on your groceries really adds up over the year.

Not sure. I use to work at Target and got I think it was 15% off of everything in the store. I think food, as well. But I'm not sure. I remember it was a hassle because you could use the 15% percent off things, but it couldn't be use with debit or credit cards. So you had to ring it up, save the transaction, then buy a gift card for that amount, then rescan the transaction, then buy it with the gift card... Or use cash. It was really weird...
