I go to bars by myself a lot. Getting a beer a watching a good game relaxes me

Rarely, but there have been weekends where I dont have anything going on and just want to get out of the house.

Ill only go to a bar that has TVs and stuff though. Watch some tv, play around on my phone and text people, rarely have I ever struck up a conversation with random bar patrons though.

Get drunk watch whatever was on tv, surfed the internet. Occasionally talk to people but I was never good at that. Actually I was trying to get better at it by going but it just never clicked for me. Always an awkward mess. Havent done it in a while except on business trips but Im not really looking to make friends on those.

I do it a lot. As a result, if I go out in the right parts of the city, the odds of me remaining on my own for very long are slim.

I did on nights off when I worked third shift. Not so much anymore.

A few times when I am on travel or vacation.

Pretty much the most depressing thing you can do. Only ever did it a few times when waiting for a friend to get off work and it was still depressing as hell.

I'm really not a social person at all, but there's just something about paying way too much for beer to kill time that rubs me the wrong way, when I could be drinking at home instead.

Last time I went some stranger asked me to borrow money.

I did because I knew a lot of the local barflys at the time. It was mostly wasted time and money in more ways than one but I did feel better about myself back then.

Hell I literally brought my Ps2 to the bar once and the bartender hooked it up to the tv and we watched movies and dvds. He muted the jukebox which I spent too much money on. I also had my PSP. So I felt cool once.

i just talk to whoever is sitting next to me, it's a dive bar so most of the time people just wanna bullshit about whatever.

Fair enough. The bar I used to frequent was a total dive bar. I used to play Radiohead a lot and some other music. Just the bartender I saw frequently loved Radiohead and a few other barflys did too.

Fights would break out on rarer occasions but nothing so serious that the police needed to be involved.

Yes, but only a bar & grill. There's this place I go to for the burger and fries when I'm alone, while also getting beer, however I've also been there for just drinks with coworkers.

But an actual bar just to drink by myself? No, way too overpriced.

If the food is good, I will go alone.

On business trips when I'm traveling alone

I've done it a few times although I only stay for a beer or two.

Every now and then I take a bike ride to the guitar store to get new strings and there's a pub right next door. I'll sometimes stop in for a beer before heading home. It's especially nice in the summer.

I do it all the time while waiting for my wife to go to church. I used to read The Economist, but now I mostly waste time on my phone.

Many, many times. I can probably count on just one hand the times l've gone with a group.

Yeah, just have one or two beers, a burger, then call it a day. It's pretty relaxing every once in a while.

Actually yes, and I had to remind myself I'd done it. It was a few years ago, at this bar that had a really nice selection of beers and their food was actually pretty good (real restaurant, except it was bar-forward). Was a spot nearby my work that I'd been with coworkers after work before...but I definitely went a few times on my own.

Yes, although I go to hotel bars primarily. I talk with the bartender(s) and guests and stick around if the conversations are good. If not, it's just a quiet drink, which I also enjoy.

My doing this is how I met one of my few good in-person friends, although she may be leaving my state in the future depending on her personal circumstances.

A few times at various hotel bars.

Usually talking to the bartender if it is slow or just drinking.
