You know, I had this kinda funny realization today about how animals are their own individuals. Ive got a bunch of turtles, all different kinds, so I guess I never really thought about it much. But then I got this new anole, and man, its nothing like my other one. My first anole was all about hanging on the glass and then hiding away, but this new dude? Hes just out there on the log all day, catching some rays. And get this, anoles are usually all about hiding, but not this fella. Hes cool with just chilling in the open, even lets grasshoppers hop on him and stuff. It just hit me, you know?

Each of these little critters has their own vibe, their own thing going on. Its not like us, but its definitely there. Made me appreciate my turtles even more. Like I always New Salt was coward, Mappy was lazy, and so on. But is just hit that these are their freaking personalities. And since a little anole as it I guess all animals do. Besides fish? Oscars are pretty much grumps, no matter which one you get.

Oscars have a ton of personality.

Yes, they are mostly grumpy bastards who will destroy anything you put in a tank, but they will 'bond' with humans in a way that fish generally don't.

Bettas can be similar. They can actually recognize and interact with their owners.

My dude took all the food and kept it in his mouth before anyone else could get anything. So like he cheeks are full I put some more in, and swims and get that too. Making sure he was only one with food. lol

this is why i stopped eating them and their products. just because we are 'superior' to animals does not grant us dominion over their lives. imagine what would happen to us if aliens arrived on earth and treated us the same way we treat 'lesser' beings. RIP us.

You're lucky he tolerates anything else being in his tank. Mine wouldn't even live with any decoration if he could break it.

Our four cats each have their own personality despite being from the same litter.
Tugger (the biggest) is the friendliest.
Bandit is the most demanding for pets.
Gigi is the cuddliest and loves laying on my chest when I'm laying in bed.
Min-Min is the shyest but also loves to lick my legs when I'm sitting at the computer.
