She said she was pissed off with herself for getting fat, but learned that it was not something she should blame herself for. She wished that her body could be 'as perfect as her soul' (indicating she was being tongue in cheek). She's actually funny, eccentric as hell, and doesn't give a shit.

And guess what? She got a hugely positive response from the audience. Many of whom had their own struggles and appreciated her honesty. But yeah the takeaway here us that she is 'bitter' and that's why she made a throwaway remark about Potter fans.

Jesus Christ, the lengths that people will go to in order to throw vitriol over an old actress you've never heard of just because she made a joke about Harry Potter themed weddings. (Because bullying is bad, see?).

The more you do this, the more you amplify and expand on what she said.

hockeybabe89 posted... How many people have ever seen something like the latter? When they go "lol you're an adult playing video games", they're laughing at adults owning and playing video games, and then likely turning around and watching hours of Netflix and/or sporting events.

It sounds like you're upset about something based on personal experience. that was an intentionally comical example yes, but people do weird stuff all the time based on their favorite movies or games or whatever. . making a franchise an integral part of your personality to the point where you're having events based around it in your personal life is funny. i am not advocating hating them, but laughter is natural.

more or less. if you can't laugh at yourself, what can you really laugh at?

She absolutely was not being tongue in cheek. She was being very authentic. It's kinda her style. I'm not sure why you feel the need to make up a narrative about "an old actress you've never heard of." You can look this stuff up ya know.

But what the fuck is the funny part? You might as well be trying to explain Quantum physics to me because I don't get it. Someone has an interest that is against some perceived societal norm. I laugh at that because? Why does that tickle my funny bone? Because I'm also weird? Wow, hilarious. Let me laugh at Paul Blart Mall Cop next.

"Weird things are to be laughed at" is just a regressive mentality for weird people to have and it's wild that I am being looked at crazy for being 100% correct.

Honestly, I think anyone who goes with the stock church-and-here-comes-the-bride wedding is a bit 'weird'. Do something that showcases the people that're getting hitched's identities or interests or anything to make it a unique and memorable experience. Why do so many people get to what's supposed to be this special one-of-a-kind day in their lives and go "Y'know what? Let's do the exact same thing everybody else is doing." Boring.

If you strip away the tradition from weddings then a lot of people will realise that they dont really need to do it.

I respect her opinion, but I think shes' wrong.

I would hope nobody who comes to Gamefaqs would agree with her because a lot of people would also say the same about video games. "They're for children, why are you still playing them as an adult" I've heard it many, many times.

People are allowed to still enjoy the things they liked as kids. I was 10 and knew a friend who loved Monty Python...he still does. As a kid I loved Xena Warrior Princess (not for kids) and still do, lol.

While I think theme weddings are weird as fuck, weddings by their nature are "supposed" to be a celebration of the couple and if the couple decides that they want to a Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of The Rings, or whatever themed wedding then all power to them. I would never decry someone doing something like that because it's different from what I would do.

Adult Harry Potter fans are among the most insufferable types of grown nerds. I completely understand the idea of getting immersed in a fictional universe and enjoying it but at its core, these are grown ass adults who preoccupy themselves with a story about fictional children going to school in a magical setting, but with some of the weakest, most boring depictions of magic and all that.

Wow, my post about being super judgemental was something someone can grow out of over others peoples interest did not age well, considering we have quite of few posters here doing exactly just that. I can make a list of things I find weird about others like peope who collect pervy waifu pillows and figurines, but at the end of the day is it worth trying to make fun and/or shame others for liking things? If they're not harming others, why the fuck would you need to go out of your way to do so? We all like things that other people would find weird and stupid, we don't need to stoop to such a level.
