If you find what someone does weird, then shut the fuck up and keep it yourself. Worthless bullshit opinions.

Why dont you shut the fuck up and keep that opinion to yourself?

No harm is done by an individual saying that something is weird.

Theres a real disconnect here from people who think they should have the freedom to do whatever they want as long as it doesnt hurt anybody but arent willing to let others do the same.

Bullying and judging people is not living and let living.

Are we seriously fucking pretending that there isn't a lot of negative baggage with labeling something weird? That there isn't oftentimes the intention there to belittle and shame the "weird" person for what they do?

Nobody was talking about bullying.

If you want to live life without being judged, Im afraid youre living on the wrong planet. Its also a very hypocritical take, because its not like you dont judge people yourself.

Look, if you wanted to dress up as Harry Potter every day for the rest of your life, I would fight to defend your right to do so. However, I would also think you were weird for wanting to do it in the first place.

The fact that you clearly have baggage with the term isnt really anybody elses problem.

Because calling someone or something weird is generally used to disparage them. Who even determined what weird is? We human beings need to learn to just not speak sometimes.

I don't judge anyone who didn't throw the first stone. And even if someone did start it, I wouldn't start mocking their hobbies because that would be insulting to other people I'm not angry with.

Self-reflection implies that the weird person needs to learn something. Why do people need to call something weird? Who are they to determine that? Maybe being normal is weird. You make it sound like it should be obvious to the weird person that they look ridiculous.

I feel like a Harry Potter themed wedding isn't that big of a deal, and lots of people do themed birthdays/weddings.
Depends entirely on execution. Like having the guest sorted and wearing the appropriate colors somehow is fine. Maybe prop wands and stuff for pictures, having the food come from the movies and small stuff like that.

Weird is literally defined as something unnatural or unsettling. It's like trying to destigmatize being called stupid or creepy.

There's always a level of entitlement when it comes to fans and the actors and people who work on these franchises. Like they are living out a dream that so they should be so humbled and grateful for it.

But at the end of the day it's just another job for them. The experience of working on a mega franchise isn't some dream they've been waiting for. It's a weird experience that opens itself up to humorous stories and anecdotes. They don't usually care about it more than that.

Unfortunately there's a lot of fans who are absolutely not self-aware and are incredibly touchy over stuff like this.

The people who have Harry Pitter weddings probably know it's weird. But it's also fun for them. Like I'm sure they had a lot of laughs about it. She's not going out of her way to bully these people.

A gimmick account like that is doing it for laughs. It's intentional comedy. The content is funny, not the fact that no one else is doing it.

Laughing at someone because you deem their hobbies weird is completely different. We are pretending that "weird" isn't regularly used in a negative fashion, and that it's just obvious that people who are not completely boring and normal should expect and realize how lol-worthy their interests are.

"Being weird isn't a bad thing" is a different discussion than "Being weird means you'll get laughed at and you need to accept it".

There's a difference between light hearted joking and disparaging. The former is actually a good thing, and can help destigmatize. The latter is a bad thing, and holds back progress.

Always Sunny made jokes about trans people, and it was a good thing. Chappelle intentionally spreads hate speech and uses humor as a shield. That's a bad thing.

The comments in the OP were the former.
