Fun fact, HRT does change your DNA and gene expression to female. How do you think trans women go through female puberty and grow their own natural female breasts?

We can talk about chromosomes, if you wish. Have you ever had a karyotype test done?
Just to clarify before you're attacked for this, HRT doesn't actually change your DNA but it can change gene expression...

And what do we call demonizing a group as a threat, such as comparing them to rapists and pedophiles, and thereby reving up similarly minded people to go and do things such as shoot up night clubs and attack members of that group?

I would call it trying to get others to physically hurt someone.

People like them really have no place speaking about us or our healthcare, making incredibly ignorant statements / conclusions that followed on later.

Its astounding how much transphobia becomes these people's entire personality.

It really is, and obviously she is full of copious amounts of shit when she says she would do prison time over this.

It's an idle threat from a person that enjoys great privilege and will never actually have to worry about it.

Also, this comes off as super bad faith, because like the lies about Canadian laws that jump started Jordan Peterson's entire career in right wing grifting buffoonery - no one is going to lock up a rich, white, middle aged woman for being a bigot. Not even in the UK where they have stricter speech laws than the United States and Canada.

Well however you want to spin it, the point was speaking to a larger conversation with respect to fighting misinformation and ignorance about trans people. Its common for some people to throw their hat into topics about trans people while they are not educated about us, our bodies, our healthcare, and what it means for the issues and how we approach them.

And hey, I understand they dont teach anything about us in public schools because the subject is taboo. So theres a lot of people still learning or operating on bad informations that give way to malformed opinions, which can be harmful. Misgendering us, subpar treatment in healthcare settings, policies and laws, etc.

This is exactly what I was saying earlier and this article's title and misinformation like it will lead to problems in communicating this issue. Even the author of the article clarifies that is doesn't actually change your DNA, even though they still chose to name the article that, which is not good. Here's a quote from the article:

"What that means in practice is that, while the core sequence of your DNA stays the samelike, the order that AGTC comes in doesnt changewhether your body notices and does anything about those thousands of genes does."

So again, not changing DNA, but changing gene expression. I think it's extremely important to be clear about these things when people get so passionate about them and that article, while interesting, is going to lead to more arguments and misunderstandings than actually helping people.

Well I wouldn't call it misinformation, it's more about understanding the context and what is actually being conveyed. HRT doesn't change or re-write your DNA in such a way that you become an alien creature for example, but the context is gene expression and how the DNA is expressed. This in parlance can be seen as a change to DNA, so it's more about what do we mean when we say change.

But it's not a change in DNA, and people really need to know more about the epigenome and gene expression in general. There really is a huge difference between these concepts and, as I said earlier, not being clear about this can be used as a tool for transphobes.

I mean, it is definitely a political view. I agree with it, personally, but it is absolutely a political issue.

It's not as simple as declaring that a subject "isn't political," because if another viewpoint strongly disagrees and significant political discourse centers around the matter, it is undeniably a political issue.

The very definitions of words like man, woman, gender, etc. have become frequent topics of political debate over the last couple of decades.
