The jet run "coyote time" was something that took me a while to get used to. It's good that the game's collectibles basically tell you exactly when to jump because I don't think I ever truly mastered the timing on that.

Spin boost was very easy though. Probably the easiest one.

Final Final took me about 45 minutes, and I gave up on Champion's Road after over an hour. Different difficulty for different folks I guess!

I was trying for a long time starting from the first checkpoint with no power up. Things turned around fast when I restarted the level to take a power up farther in! Plus I'd gotten so good at the second section by then

There aren't any hidden power ups anywhere in Final Final right?

I never restarted the level, lol. Also never used my stored power up. Might've made the level harder for me by doing that...

yeah I never restarted the level, instead used up like 40 lives going off of checkpoints (I was 99 before starting, finished with in the 60s of lives and who knows how many I gained from coins)

like I said though first time I did at least still have one stored power-up to spend on the spring segment, but not my second attempt to get the 10-coin I missed

And World 5 is the first special stage I get the checkmark for. After like 30 lives. It probably would've been much less if I had made the effort to get a power-up after each loss, but ehh.

World 3 is the only other special stage I've beaten, but I missed the first 10 coin and the flag.

I think the first two specials were actually the most difficult, and most ended up just more about a fun ride rather than being about a challenge.

I just completed special 1 with only a few deaths, but then died probably 50+ times on special 2. It may just be beyond the capabilities of my reflexes. Most runs end in the same spot when it gets to climbing the 2-block walls, and I know my problem is that I'm not letting go of A fast enough to press it again, but knowing that doesn't seem to make it any easier to improve it.

Climb to the Beat is probably the second hardest level in the game in my opinion.

Part of the issue I had is that walljumping feels a bit wonky. The main issue I had is that it feels like the game expects you to still be pressing in the direction of the wall when you press jump. So if you change directions to early in your walljump, you'll fall instead.

Yeah, the game doesn't just let you instantaneously wall jump, which is kind of annoying. You have to wait for that split second for the character to actually "grab" the wall first.

I suppose the problem could also be that I'm trying to jump too fast. Slowing down at that part feels so counterintuitive, though.

BTW you can instantly wall jump. You just need to keep holding the control stick in the direction of the wall as you jump instead of changing to the direction you're jumping in. Took a bit to get used to doing that

Yeah the disappearances REALLY speed up. At first it's really slow and you have to actively wait for the next platform to appear, but towards the end they disappear faster than your top speed.

It feels like there'd be no way to get all the 10-coins AND beat the stage in one go.

I began this game a bit late but I really like it. Just playing as Mario offline, I have beaten the first three worlds along with every available level as well.

Climb to the Beat was probably the most fun level so far. I like Mario levels where you do precision jumping in a rush. But also platforming is my gaming specialty so I didn't struggle either.

Yeah Champion's Road is the runner up for me. I think if you had to do Champion's Road as Mario, it might take the cake. But being able to use Rosalina or Peach makes it a lot easier.

Just in pure time, pretty sure Champion's Road took me around an hour first try and this was over an hour and a half. Must have been 50+ attempts.

I watched PangaeaPanga play though this game on Twitch and it took him about 26 minutes to beat the final level (going off the Twitch VOD). Though he's a god gamer when it comes to Mario games due to his prior experience with SMW kaizo ROM hacks and Mario Maker as well. He makes extremely difficult levels in Mario Maker.

Here's a edited version of Panga playing through the final level of this game:

Honestly, it's like how some people have a refined palate with varietals of red wine and stuff. I have no doubt they know what they're talking about, but it all tastes the same to me. Same thing with 2D mario games. To me, everything since Super Mario World has had the same level of high quality(except for NSMB2 which I recognize is kind of weird/sub-par).

I think I legitimately hurt my hand playing Climb to the Beat just now. I've never realized how uncomfortable the buttons can be in handheld mode, but the rhythmic timing with one button while also needing to hold down the other really does not feel good. I keep losing because the muscle in my hand suddenly cramps up.

Exactly my thoughts on the final level. Holy shit was Nintendo cruel putting that there. I seriously doubt I would have finished it as soon as I did had I not been playing online and a very kind soul was helping me with the revives throughout the whole level. 30 lives is pretty impressive I'd say! Definitely lost 60ish myself, though I purposely played it offline for the challenge. Luckily got all the coins and the top of the flagpole my first run.

Been itching to play this again already. Probably will a little closer to Christmas. Be about a 2 month wait that way. Also might go back and play NSMBU/NSLU first. I kinda love that game, but this blows it out the water so much it will be interesting to see if it holds up.

I beat the Final Final Test offline first just as a matter of pride, but it took an embarrassingly long time for me to get the hang of the end of the Spring section
and it probably was responsible for like 80% of my deaths there.

I did enjoy the level enough to go back while online and help people get through it though. Got two or three friend requests from that
