The background being sparse makes sense, but it also kinda hurts the look of the panels. While I could try to draw some (dirty) wall texture, I feel like that could just make it look worse. One thing I'm considering, is that the TV at least should be viewable from either the front or the back, depending on which side of the bed they sat on. That could be a way to make things feel less empty. Based on the image in my head, you could probably see the window from Lily's profile shots as well, and the door from Aloe's. Stuff to think about. Speaking of, looking back on things, the way Lily just started her whole thing about being upset feels a bit awkward. I feel like there's a way to make it not feel as 'whiny', while still allowing the information to be conveyed. She was meant to feel more stoic here, as opposed to Aloe being more open. Anyway, it's December, and I still have a fair few pages to go (and am behind 1 page). It's an interesting feeling, because while I'm glad to have fairly consistently been working, I do now want to do something that more purely an illustration. But I still feel I should finish things out, and let what I've done settle a bit, to think about all I should fix for the 2nd draft. I don't make comics or even really illustrations with too much thought about the overall composition, so your commentary about balance and variety is interesting. Not sure if I'll switch back to the closet, or keep using the box. But it's why the pose seems weird, I just went with my original concept for it. Also the scaling and perspective for the box probably makes it look really off, I was more trying to get the top down perspective on the foot right. Probably the page most subject to a massive overhaul, but I needed to get something out. Look at his silly skrunkly porky little self. Wasn't sure how to approach the thin gold glowy aura they have on their lower body. I left the lines on its helmet/head in pencil because they are pretty thin but might try to do a subtle penciling in of the thicker light gold parts. which kinda means the distinction between his back leg and butt got kinda blacked out.
