Day 2: Spider

Was considering doing Spiderman, but I really wasn't feeling it. Best to try something nonhumanoid. Considering the difference between my first and second tries of this, part of me wants to do a third try, but diminishing returns happen, so eh.

I have an idea for path, but I don't think it'll turn out well, so I'll have to think on it.

The more tries you do the better it will look each time! But I like this one. Iy reminds me of the jumping spider videos.

Thanks! I've been watching a lot of videos on color theory and have been trying to incorporate it.

Seeing peoples pictures here kind of demotivates me because they're so good. Good job guys. Not sure If I want to take part (since I only do pencil and paper) and I never really did get used to the drawing tablet I bought years ago.

Personally, I've always felt like I was one of the weakest artists in these threads (and still do), my 'style' never really develops because I'm far too inconsistent in regards to actually drawing. I like seeing people participate, in only because I'm interested in the different interpretations people have. Even if your skill isn't to your liking, your interpretation in unique. Don't force yourself, but don't worry about it too much either.

Agreed. I see the other artists in these topics and I'm like "Well I can't do that..." But it's fun seeing what other people come up with. How people will look at one word and take completely different things out of it. No matter how "good" it is.

Day 3: Path

Not my original concept, but this felt better to do. Truth be told, I spent more time on getting the perspective of the wagon semi-right than the path itself. As per usual, I got a bit lazy filling in the details and such, both the forest and the wagon, but I think I got about what I wanted.

Damn, imagine having the nerve to electively draw a vehicle. One with wheels and wood grain even. Couldn't be me. Also I love how zigzaggy the trees are.

It's Poco Path, the route in Scarlet/Violet where you first meet Lechonk and it makes your whole life a little brighter. Also it's like four pixels, but there is a Lechonk in there.

I can't do landscapes or painting, but what better time than Inktober to fuck around and find out?

Day 4: Dodge

I had to look up how to get a good(ish) spinning effect on the ball. Still isn't perfect, but I can see how it could be done better. Forgive the pose and detailing of the character. I feel like it probably should've been the most important part but it was a bit of a rushjob. Had to color it because it just looked really bad without it.

I think I remember being told squishing a ball slightly in the direction of the spin also helps sell the motion

That makes sense, and I feel like I've seen stuff like that before. I think I honed in too much on how to get the spinning effect at all, cause doing it manually just seemed really bothersome.

I suck at drawing cars so I don't know why I went forward with this anyway, but I like to think of different ways to play with the word prompt when able, and once 'Dodge dodging Bullitt' popped into my head I couldn't shake it. (And of course the characters are genderbent for no discernable reason).

I was thinking of Dodge cars too, but then remembered that drawing cars is literally impossible so I didn't go there.

Day 5: Map

Don't have too much to say. Maybe could've tried harder to make the textures look right.

Idk, I think the paper and wood both look great. And I love the pencil drawings on the map.

I spent so long finnicking with the nose trying to get it somewhat centered and lined up with the eyes. Pigs are cute, but I still gotta practice drawing their snouts and faces. It's one of the reasons I'm doing all lechonks lol.

After that, I tried for so long to figure out a good color scheme for reading by lantern light, then just gave up in the end. Fine tuning colors is just too much work without even a fill tool.

Really like what you did with the lantern lighting tbh

Gold feels like it really isn't 'that' hard to render, but I'm having issues. Doesn't help I'm trying to do a nonstandard shape, so I might have to try something a bit easier.

I feel your pain. Once I get a drawing off my 3ds, the colors are practically randomly generated. Still, that's some pretty rendering.

Day 7: Drip

Honestly I feel like this is one that I could/should put more effort in, but I feel like the scratchiness makes some parts of it look better, and some worse.

Edit: Hmm, obviously you can tell I rotated the canvas (which I felt made the leaf look better), but the droplets, mostly at the end, look dumb that way.

I wanted to do a different style and thought fashion illustration would fit "drip" lol. As bad as I am at drawing all clothing, I'm the worst at jeans. Guess I need more practice on the seams and the way denim bunches up.

Truth be told, I keep going half measures for stuff like this. Reasonably speaking, I should be more intent when doing a quasi-realistic pieces, or just go full on in stylization. Rather than oversimplifying actual details.

Spoink already bounces so I don't know why I bothered Eeyore- and Tigger-ifying them. I almost just dug up my bouncing Lechonk gif and called it good, but doing a whole new drawing sounded easier than trying to log back into imgur to post it.

Appreciated. They're from Game Club by Mozocry. Relatively short manga, though some of the chapters are a bit longer, if you're interested. I liked it pretty well.

Day 10: Fortune

Honestly, I looked at Twitter to get inspiration, I was thinking money fortune, but couldn't get a good idea, this kind of fortune felt better. If there's anything I kinda like about this piece, it's that the yellow part of the dress actually feels like it has the proper flow.
