I feel ya, that can kill your ability to do anything.

And speaking of that, my tablet has been wonky for months, and its felt even worse recently. Even if I feel like drawing, the amount of time it takes to get it fixed kills my motivation.

That was a short wierd ass bug.

Started feeling slightly off Tuesday night
Didn't feel truely ill till near noon weds. Temp rose 4+ degrees to ~102 in about 3 hours.
Major body aches, severe fatigue and gas.

When I wake up after fever dreams and waking up repatedly the fever is much less but now I have SEVERE heartburn.

By the evening all the side effects are nearly gone fever entirely so even with no meds.

What the hell was that? I didn't have respiratory symptoms or nausea/vomit. What the hell has such a rapid onset, intense body aches/fatigue but no cough/congestion or nausea/vomit/dierhea and clears up in under 48 hours? I took two covid rapids ~24 hours apart both were negative. I also have my flu and Covid shots.

Anyways have some rats.

Sickness can be so weird with how brutal it is, yet how quickly it can go away, I sympathize, but at least it's over.

I really like how you did the... I don't think inking is the right word, but coloring also feels weird, when it's BW. It just looks really smooth. It particularly helps the hair's form feel more evident, if you get what I mean.

For those not keeping count, this is the 32nd page.

I didn't bother filling in anything except the book, which I'll likely have to replace with a more defined texture. Not sure the expression in the 4th panel is quite what I wanted it to look like, I was having trouble making one that felt right, and this one seemed the closest. It's actually interesting how creating the right expression can be a challenge, depending. Probably it would be better if the face was angled, like turned down and to the left, and looking up. The eye size difference would probably better allow for the expression to read properly.

I was working then my tablet did it's thing, so I'll just bump now to make sure. I got a quote on what the repair cost would be... it would be more worth it to buy a new one, I feel.

Lot of white space near the top, probably should try to include something there. I really wasn't in the mood to do the 2nd to last panel, especially since the third panel definitely feels like I screwed up the proportions, so I thought I'd rather get down an approximation, since I'll definitely have to get the proportions correct and fixed later anyway. I feel like the dialogue is skipping some steps, probably because I can't (or at least, am not) casually drawing it, so I want to get through everything, but that leaves it feeling a bit awkwardly paced. Might have to live with it, though, I mostly just want to have finished 'something', even if that something has 100 more flaws than I'll be able to see myself, when completed.

Notice how I have started "coloring" with my pencil a lot in my pics? I think it helps further sell the 3Dness by differentiating the sections more.

I think it's a good habit to have, shading things in. Even if only subconsciously, it starts to help you think about colors, values, etc.

I think I've gotten too used to doing very unfinished pages. Doesn't hurt. Better to have them somewhat done, then not at all. Arguably, the best way to do things is to write a script ahead of time, then doing extremely rough layouts, I just have a hard time working that way. I should really try to get at least one more page before the end of the year, going lax for a while killed any productivity I had, even if it was for good reason.

To be completely transparent, I pretty much completely ripped this page layout off, I was looking for inspiration, and found it. Considering I kinda sped through this bit, I'll likely have to change it anyway, but it gives me ideas for the future. I'll post the "inspiration" next post, it's not saved on my PC.

Edit: Oh yeah, just because I like to mention it every time, this one also wasnt meant to look exactly like the full product, the first and third panels, especially, look off, but considering what I said before, not a huge deal.

Thanks, y'all. That app is really not great for drawing. Maybe sixteen shades total to choose from and one tool for shading. But that kinda makes it fun, too. It means you can't try too hard or make things too clean, so you gotta just relax and roll with it and it all gets a real messy look that I dig a little.

You two are both doing great keeping at it. Kinda surprising this topic has lasted to the end of the year, but it's sure cool to see.

I have severely not had time for art lately with work. As soon as I got back from my vacation in October I found out my supervisor had a heart attack and is indefinitely on medical leave. (She's alive and doing better I hear) So I had to be acting supervisor the past 2 months.

I very much appreciate everyone who's helped contribute and keep this thread bumped, I'll always love seeing all of your works and improvements. Truth be told, if I'm improving personally, it's hard to tell. Inktober, I was kinda forcing myself. November and what little I've done in December, has basically been dedicated to drafts, where I can't allow myself to focus too much on quality, lest I get no work done at all. I've realized I haven't done a full work in quite a while... and I still haven't, but I made a quick mockup, at least. I feel like this could become something, but now I'm in my head of whether it's worth it to try and do a whole thing.

I still am not great at knowing 'where' to put the detail in, it's evident the shoes, clothes, and kinda hair are all lower detail than the rest, I just hesitate to add more, because it could just make things look way worse.

So honestly, I'm more and more liking the idea of the MC intentionally using no extra shading/screentone (maybe a little bit). The issue is, the backgrounds can't be super blank all the time, in that case, or else there's not as much contrast. And without contrast, it would feel a bit dumb. I should probably add more tendrils to the top panel around the middle, the reference I was using for it, didn't, but it feels a bit empty as-is.

Also for last post's image, I realize having arm over arm makes way more sense lol, not sure why I changed it. I feel like I could make that one decently better just by implementing a few changes... well I guess I'll see how I feel. Might not be worth it.

Ill go ahead and bump this now. I think I said only a few pages left a few pages ago, but it should really be only a few left now.

I appreciate the video. I remember I actually tried out Loomis a while back. Its useful for sure, and I probably should try using it more, especially for difficult angles. Ill probably give it a watch, but chances are my main issue is just that Im not looking closely enough, honestly. Ive done a bit of practice and made it a bit more consistent. If I ever do a chapter 2, Ill have to draw it quite a bit.

Been feeling like doing more doodles since my annual new year countdown doodles topic but getting motivated to even do really sloppy, no-pressure stuff has been hard. So I scribbled for a bit and then eventually drew a goofy little Skull Kid.

Page 39, tentative final page, will probably have to get the perspective better, but maybe I can cheat it a bit.

I have some notes for myself, I think I mentioned it before, but on the off-chance any of you have anything to say about it, by all means. So:

• From about page 16 on, I need to establish better what actually happened, for one, when they were attacked, what exactly happened? Could be obvious, but they were bombed.
• I think asking/answering the question "how did they survive?" is important. Aloe was late getting back, since she's a newbie. Lily ended up unconscious in the one section that wasn't completely destroyed (and was sealed), and that's a good enough answer for what Aloe would ask.
• I brought it up before, but I didn't like very much how I did some of the conversation about 'what to do next'. Lily is meant to feel more put together than anyone else, when she's around people, with Aloe dropping her guard only around Lily, but they felt too much like equals, which is a matter of me not trying very hard to get their differences across.
• In that sense, it's possible that I should move part of that conversation to the next chapter (which sounds exhausting to think about, but hey, maybe I'd do it faster, if I do it at all). But I do think it's important to establish that Lily has eased up from the old days, I don't think I could do that very well with what's in my head for what's next.
• By the way, I'm definitely gonna have to redraw pretty much everything lol, and probably revamp a ton of panel layouts, beside I switched to different gutter sizes. And also the faces are pretty wonky in earlier pages (well, in later ones too), even in ones where I think I might have been trying. I feel like I might have been improving in the last stretch, slightly.

Anyway, for how long it's been going, not very much to it, but that's fine. Completing something, even something amateurish and short, is the really important thing. I might start from page 4 or so, because the intro pages probably need to be revamped in a different way than the others.

I definitely missed it, but I like what you posted. Despite relatively little detail, I can still feel the 'form' of the dress, which I feel like I'm terrible at capturing, if I did more poses that were less static, I'd more quickly learn how to do it myself.

So I sketched out the room layout. Removed the random box, added a closet, and I also added a desk. While the room was meant to be sparse, a nearly empty desk with like one paper on it still captures that feeling. Also added a bump into the wall cause I realized since it's an apartment, having a closet would be weird with a perfectly square layout. The inside of the closet should probably be bigger, but it's not meant to be seen anyway. Hopefully having this means I can have the slightest bit more interesting looking backgrounds.

Messy drawings. Featuring abstracted hands and faces cuz learning is for nerds, and another keyblade with transformations cuz I never grew out of thinking keyblades are the tightest shit.

Keyblades are cool, tbh though, I feel like a lot of the transformations from 3 werent that cool, at least compared to everything that was shown in KH2.

2 didn't have keyblade transformations at all, but I do like 2's combat way more. Some of the transformations in 3 were cool. Dual guns and claws were fun and using Elsa's icy stomp move is the best thing in the whole game. Hard to say whether I prefer the keyblade transformation or drive form system more though. If nothing else, at least you got to use transformations more frequently. Didn't hafta wait six years for your drive gauge to fill up again.

Oh yeah, him. I finally beat him on Critical the other day and I gotta say, he was never that fucking useful in BBS. Stupid moron saves all his good moves to use on Sora for no good reason. But yeah anyway, the stuff he does with his keyblade in that fight is pretty cool. Neat whip form, annoying glider form, cheap bow form, cool cannon move.
