oh yea, I remember seeing The Endless, and I liked it.

I forgot about much of the plot, though, outside of the cult and the time loop.

I've also got to agree with Primer - great movie, but it has a lot going on, and while it might seem like a simple plot, it goes deeper than you might expect.

anyway, my pick for the topic is Fando Y Lis.

How is a remake of FernGully that's worse than the original the highest grossing movie of all time? And why did anyone who saw the original return for the sequel?

There was that weird fantasy movie with the evil things and the good things that each individual shared life with the opposing half. Something about crystals. Also, it was only confusing when I first watched it and is actually pretty simple now.

As for now... probably some especially bad anime that went stupid from episode one that I then ignored and forgot.

Oh, right. That. Except didn't see it, and even a review of it is stupid so much compared to the source, that, even a movie that has nothing to do with most of the characters of the original, which is already infamous for some reason due to a batty rap and just a ton of eco-themes... is better, even by the reviews that mostly lombast this fact already... is NOT AS BAD... yeah, fair. next.

Also you say silly things and its really called the Last Airbender, not Avatar, in its movie form.

Also, also... Once Upon A Forest is good, and some of the most prominent reviewers hate it for things that happen only in the first half before they just give up because they are DISSAPOINTED its not like Ferngully, and then mostly even just ignore the "we can't save him" elephant moment in the middle of the film, i.e. the actual BAD part of the damn thing.

May owls scrowl all their eyes.

It's all in the subtext. Beyond the stylistic weirdness, it's a movie about parental concerns.

Concerns over meeting her parents.
Concerns over getting her pregnant by accident.
Concerns over the baby being okay.
Concerns over being stuck taking care of the baby.
Concerns over being tempted by another.

Good luck figuring out the title though. <_<

Mulholland Drive immediately sprang to mind when I saw the topic title. I was able to draw my own conclusions on some of the larger themes, and I patted myself on the back for getting the 'silencio' reference at the end, but on the whole I think it went over my head. Still enjoyed it, though.

What was the reference?

The last line spoken in Jean-Luc Godard's Le Mempris (Contempt) is the in-universe film director saying 'silencio,' in this context being 'quiet on the set' but likely having other connotations. I assumed Mulholland Drive doing the same was a deliberate callback.

Donnie Darko and I agree actually. I liked the scene with the dream about the rabbit telling himwhen the world will end. Very special.

The rest of the film became pretty dull the more it went on and a bit pretentious. Understanding it felt similar to having to do some math homework
