there's definitely a difference between a movie not making sense and a movie just grabbing random thoughts out of the air- which exactly applies to this movie.

Oh, the books annihilation is based on are quite good.

I read them all in like a week once when I was really sick and sleep deprived, added to the experience tbh.

When people here say Step Brothers do they mean the Will Ferrell comedy? Cause Ive actually never seen it lol. Is it actually that confusing?

It is, but as someone who isn't really a big fan of Will Ferrell, it's one of the better ones.

Probably Primer. I watched it with a room full of physics majors and kind of hated every second of the experience

Fargo...it was just plain stupid.

I don't agree that it's random. It's not a particularly deep or confusing movie, but nothing in it is random.

There were scenes where it was literally *plot device triggered, one of the actors faces starts coming off in squares*

The writing itself could have gone in 6,000 different directions at any given moment.

I thought Primer was pretty cool, but yeah they lost me when put a time machine *in* another time machine.

It also had a shoestring budget, I bet it would be interesting if it was remade someday.

When three Richard Kelly films are listed ITT several times (Donnie Darko, Southland Tales, and The Box), that's not a compliment.

Donnie Darko, but it was more stupid. Pretty sure the movie itself didn't know wtf it was doing.

I love this movie, very underrated imo. Wahlberg is actually funny in it. There's really not that much to understand, it's an absurdist comedy with heavy existentialist themes. There's a lot of very shallow philosophy references in it, which I liked because I was majoring in philosophy when it came out.

@Mr_hulk88 TC, I'm late to this but my gf loves the movies made by those directors. So if you enjoyed 'The Endless', I'd also recommend their previous movie, 'Resolution', which is set in the same universe. As well as their newer movie, 'Synchronic'.

If I liked Synchronic would I like the other two? It took paying close attention and some thought (in a good way)

Probably. I personally haven't seen them, but she loved all 3 of those movies.

Also Lynch's Dune. I actually like it more than the new version because it's a lot more fun trying to figure out what's going on, and failing. It's also much more visually interesting. Freddie Francis is one of the great artists in his field, and that film is easily the most incredible work he did in color.
