...due to the disappointing performance of Indiana Jones.

Do you want this to be true?

I for one think she horribly mangled the Star Wars sequel trilogy. While I don't think the films were as bad as many, the fact that she didn't ensure a cohesive plan was in place is inexcusable.

Who would take her place if true? Is Jon Favreau the frontrunner?

Yeah, it does. This time it is based on some insider who has been right before (and wrong before). Some also said she suddenly took 2 weeks vacation right after Indy opened.

I don't necessarily place stock in the rumor and more just looking for reactions.

It's not like she hasn't produced bombs worse than that before. She's produced some of the greatest movies of all time, but also few failures.

If she can make it past Indian in the Cupboard and Milk Money, she'll do fine with Indiana Jones.

The main problem with Dial of Destiny is that it cost like 350 million to make it.

Make that movie for 150 million and it wouldn't be a bomb. Also the movie could have been made for 150 mil and it would have been fine.

The first three, even adjusted for inflation, didn't cost even like a third of Dial of Destiny, and were vastly superior.

Budgets are out of line across the board right now. Quite a few of them had an extra $50 million (or more) due to Covid protocols and pandemic related delays but that only explains part of it.

The movie was about 350 million. Assuming 100 million for advertising, it cost 450 million dollars to make.

To make back that money in the theatrical window, it would likely need to do about 800 million dollars in the entire box office. That is impossible.

It's doing well at the box office, but the movie was so expensive it's not even made back half its production budget.

Hmm, looking it up a friend had shared screenshots with numbers that don't jive with the reported 60.4m in its opening weekend, so maybe those were international numbers he sent cause one of them was $120m, which still doesn't make up for the budget.

Yeah, that was likely a worldwide number. Studios only keep like half of what is made, so it really does need like $800 million plus to break even theatrically. It might not even hit $500 million.
