LBJ sent a note to the Turkish Prime Minister at the time stating that if the American weapons sold to Turkey were used in an intervention in Cyprus without the permission of the US NATO would not protect Turkey (a NATO member) if the USSR invaded. Trump is going to absolutely dominate the GOP primary unless something really insane happens, which to be fair, it could, who knows with that guy You have to remember, to his dedicated base, the election was stolen - he never "fumbled" it at all. He's built his entire brand on the idea that he's a winner even when he's a loser, and because the GOP and Fox News continue to sell the narrative that the election was stolen, the republican base will always want to give him the salty runback at the election because they consider him the rightful winner.
