Poland was opening a pipeline at the same time the attack occurred. It could have been to demonstrate capability by attacking an inactive pipeline. It also caused gas prices to further surge increasing the energy pressure on Europe. These make more sense as motives than the US and Norway attacking their own allies to achieve something that already happened.

Also yeah the Republicans have been rolling back child labour laws for a while.

I dont know about Minnesotas version specifically, but Iowas includes demolition and mining jobs too. Basically, they want to legalize the dangerous jobs for teens.

Yeah and if anything goes wrong theyve got thoughts and prayers instead of accountability!

The Iowa one does go down to 14 but it's still teenagers being allowed to work in more dangerous jobs like mining, logging, and meat packing. Along with allowing more and later hours.

And to quote a local paper the Cedar Rapids Gazette:

if a teen gets sick, injured or killed on the job, the company they worked for would be free from any civil liability of negligence.

Well yeah, it's saying if there is an accident you can't say that the teenager wasn't responsible because they were a teenager.

Everyone still can be sued for negligence, it's just there isn't a difference in standard between teenagers and adults.

That's a good change and hopefully goes through and I'll just love to see how Republicans attack it. It's insane that we actually disincentivize family or friends helping people with disabilities with food because it could slash their benefits.

It's good in a vacuum but probably makes it easier to abuse. Not sure how it works with that program specifically but selling food stamps is big around here.

Food stamps really arent as easy to abuse as some people would have you believe. The government doesnt give an adequate amount to feed people either

I have seen people sell them outright on Facebook, and I know 5 people that buy them off of others for 50 cents on a dollar. If it ain't easy to abuse, idk. But, it is.

Or something along those lines, this isn't really a new concept for the GOP.

Some old rich people also get social security. Just because some recipients are fine without the benefits doesn't mean we should withhold the benefits from people who need them.

The problem is the way the system is built doesnt help this at all either. The second somebody on food assistance gets a raise, a better job or even a job at all their food money is slashed so much they were better off staying where they were. They just arent sensible at all for what amount to give people. Under $200 a month for 1 person for groceries at these prices is basically telling somebody to live off instant ramen for most of their food.

I am asking what parameters you are meaning. The parameters I discussed was middle class people buying food stamps off of people looking to sell it for 50 cents on a dollar so they had cash for drugs.

How do you know its to buy drugs? Could be to pay rent or utilities or other bills that might sadly be a more immediate concern than a meal.

I can't answer for all of them and can just say what the person that bought them said for those ones, but I know for a fact about a couple of the ones I mentioned.

Honestly I don't care if they use the food stamps for other things. The government should stop with the pretense they are for food only and just give cash assistance. You can't expect people to break out of the cycle of poverty if they aren't treated with the dignity, respect, and agency they deserve as players in the free market economy.

I don't know, and I honestly don't care. It's scum stuff. If the number is above 0, its sad. The amount I know about it is more than I want to know about it. That said, all I said is I wonder if that makes it easier to abuse, the change mentioned above.

I think the government doesn't want to be so directly supporting illegal drugs / whatever. They want to be satisfied they provided you with food to not starve to death.

The thing is... why though? What's the point of being cruel? Like, I don't care if the person was a murderer, a saint, a whatever. They are dead now. It is somebody's somebody... whether father, child, etc. Let them get their closure.
