By "primary" I mean the one you put on your resume and give to friends to contact you. If your primary was a landline back in 2010, and your mobile number that you got that year (and still have) became your primary in 2013, vote for 2010 since that is when this number was first tied to you.

Me, I have had the same number since I got my MotoRAZR in 2007. This is why the last options are as they are: That was around when people started getting dedicated cell phones, which is why I structured the options as I did.

lost my last number when I went to Japan, got a new one when I returned mid-2017

Got my cell phone in 2007 and my number has carried through 3 phones since then.

2013 when I emigrated from UK to US. Before that I had the same UK number for like 12 years or something.

I've had 2 phone numbers total since I was like 12 or 13.

I've never had issues moving my number between providers- it seems like changing countries might be the only reason you'd have to change (?)

switched away from StraightTalk when I got an actual good phone, and they did not make the process easy to transfer number

2008, when I took my dad's number after his death

2009, got a unique and cool number when jumping on a friends phone plan after Basic Training, lol

I got my first phone in 2006 I think, but that number was in use earlier by one of my siblings. Haven't changed it since.

Ever since I bought my house, I've been getting messages from people trying to buy some other house owned by a mysterious individual known as Hosvep. I can't tell if someone gave my number instead of theirs to a telemarketing group or what.

Maybe I should have done "before 2005" since more people got their first long-term mobile number earlier than I thought. Until I got my MotoRAZR, I had a Tracfone where I didn't get to choose the number, and it changed once or twice.

I don't get calls for people who had this number before me anymore - I used to get people asking for a Shameka but that stopped a few years ago. What inspired this topic, however, was me getting a wrong-number text and that got me thinking about things like this.

I'm honestly not sure when I got my current phone number. My first cell phone was in 2003. It was almost impossible to take phones with you to other carriers back then, though. I migrated at least twice or I'd still have a phone number in my college's area code.

I suspect some people are overestimating. I picked the '05 or earlier option, but it's probably not correct.

I honestly don't know. I had a different cell number once early upon owning a cell phone. Think I got this number in like 08 but not sure.

I think I got my first phone in my junior year, so 2007.

Must be about 12 years or so now. Whenever I get a new phone they give me same number which is fine with me.

2003 I got a cell phone from my parents. Have had the same number since.

You don't remember how pathetic cell phones were before the RAZR? And how people didn't exactly want to take their bricks around? By "dedicated" I meant just that: Something you always take with you. The number you give people.

i think we adopted phones a lot quicker here than in the US, because 2005 sounds INSANE to me. they were colour by then! i'm pretty sure we were using WAP by then!

Cell Phones became commonplace around 2000 in the US, at least where I grew up. By the time I graduated high school in 2005, I was one of the few kids in my class who didn't have one.

2007 is way too late.

there was definitely nobody in my school who didn't have a phone and I finished school in 2005

2002-2004 seems like when most of the people around my age got them at my school (I was in 6th-9th grade in those years)

"Russell" is definitely real because at one point they did give me an address that they were looking to buy and I looked it up and according to WhitePages someone named Russell does indeed live there.

Yeah same. I had PAYG phone for a few years before getting my first contract in 2003 at the age of 18

I only got my phone in the summer before college started, and I was definitely "late" compared to the people who had one in high school.

Same number the whole time, but I don't remember when exactly I got it. High school?

It's kinda nice because I moved out of that area code a long time ago, so seeing a number from there is an easy way to screen a lot of robocalls.

Our houseland line has been active since the 90s. Heck my Uncle has a landline number he has used since the 70s.
