See, I was actually trying to talk LESS in chat, so I appreciate this feedback. Chris talked a LOT in the chats for his games so, since I didn't want to give anything away, I was trying to figure out how to toe that line. Next time I will only answer questions and be more hands-off, so thanks.

The hasty rulings I will agree on. I should ask more people before quickly doing things like that. And next time I won't give a specific percentage of scum if I may have to violate it - I was honestly expecting 12-13 players and I only got 10, which is why I made that statement.

This could work if scum gets ONE deliberate no kill. If they choose to use it, they certainly can.

Making insane roles is more fun for the host based on their idea of how the game should interact, rarely do the players make the plays that you think they should so just make sure you have some experienced give you feedback on them.

I think I played decent enough, couldn't be that much around day 1. But I was spot on on Ben. The most annoying thing (this messy endgame as spectator aside) was not getting to post at the end of day 2 before Ulti hammered himself. I thought Ulti was town after Corrik's stunt and Ben made some mistakes in his claim. Wouldn't ever get to post again lol.

I thought plum and IGCD were the other two when that day ended. Mostly through poe. Went well.

Oh, that's the plan. I want to run it by Chris and a few other folks first. Some of this is wild shit. The idea is to give people these ridiculous roles and then sit back and what what happens.

When it happens, I wouldn't want anyone to take that game seriously. I want people to let loose and have fun with it.

I actually think as we saw here, the hard part is the boring part.

If you are a new host then as long as your setup is being approved, making crazy mafia roles is both fairly harmless and also fun. I recommend new hosts try to make flavorful roles.

The hard part is what do you do when someone is directly asking you questions in topic or claiming you said something to them in game which is making other players quit.

1. Locked votes or not at end is host discretion. Announce beforehand if using locked voted, if so keep consistent.

2. Self voting is host discretion. It has uses that are beneficial. Make sure it is known if allowing self-voting. There can even be roles that benefit from this, like a target bomb, bomb, lawyer, mayor, unlynchable, information role not being believed, scum ending day earlier, etc.

3. Stalemate is 3 turns of no killing action. Scum and town should not be compelled to act. A stalemate is a stalemate. If you wish to not allow a stalemate, after 2 turns the original initiator is forced to act, in order to be playing to win and not allowing a stalemate. For example, plum no kills, town no lynch in favor, plum has to then kill because he has to play to win and not accept the stalemate.

4. Don't talk to players in game when hosting AT ALL. Less communication is good. If someone has an actual question, they can pm you and you can respond to them. They cannot use host communication outside the game to appear an alignment.

5. Make sure you adjust your rules to the setup to be clear of what is to be expected. .

6. Keep flavor tangibly related to the game and nebulous if going to be about the game. Do not give hints in flavor, confirm details in flavor, or steer the game via flavor.

7. Listen to Corrik if you want to win.

Yeah, my mistake was disclosing the percentage as a catch-all for whatever number of players I got, not realizing that - as a rookie host - 25-33% wasn't feasible for smaller games where such a number could make for a MYLO on D2. This was my bad. Next time will be a bigger game with a fixed number of roles, and will be semi-open in that you know that most people have some kind of ludicrous role. I may also disclose the number of scum, but whether or not I do will be determined by how that affects balance since it gives town more power.

no, i think he needs to play more here before he be allowed to host another game. I don't think that's unreasonable. he's played what 2 games and in one he quit middle of day 1. He was supposed to be hosting a simple open setup small game, something even a rook should be able to do. He got too caught up in the outlandish and crazy that we have injected into b8 games of late. I think it was too soon to remove the training wheels.

I'm not going to sugar coat my criticism.

And yeah, I agree with all of Corrik's propositions.

Regarding toxicity, I wasn't here for the toxic days of Mafia, but I do feel like people need to chill out whenever town loses. People are quick to call each other idiots on a town loss and focus on everything that went wrong with the game. Like, yeah, town can lose because the remaining people alive were a bunch of knuckleheads, but it's not like scum can play like buffoons and win the game off of it.

This isn't targeted at anyone in particular, and I'm not excused from this, either. But I feel like people need to focus more on the ggs and encouragement rather than being the first to say "I told you so". Part of having fun with the game is also being a good sport, even if the game may have been infuriating or boring as sin to watch on the sidelines.

I think the goal should be to play to win. Stalemate should be treated as a loss for both sides.

Self-voting can be fine but the way it was used here is wrong and certainly seemed to violate the "play to win" rule.

I thought BCT did OK, and I think any of the vets that are crapping on him should just be trying to help him. I think it's best to try and build the community.

It's okay to mislynch someone, or be mislynched, or get caught as scum!

I agree that the focus should be on this being a game, and an attempt at having fun :)
