What a based post. I don't understand Meat Week.

Anyways I think I'm getting the hang of stuff now. Couple questions if y'all don't mind, 1. Does every MHW sling ammo have a 1:1 equivalent hunting buddy? Like I just fought a Barroth and didn't know how to knock the rock off when in MHW I would just use the moss slingshot stuff normally.

2. How do the Spiritbird buffs work? Do I need to get like 3 of one kind and it applies the buff, or does each bird apply a small one, or...
I always get confused about those and the bugs that grant temp buffs too.

There's just a lot going on and I don't have time to explore and test by myself cause I'm playing with someone who just zips through stuff.

You mean the mud it covers itself in? You can get rid of that with just damage I think. If you mean the Scalp which is an extra carve with its tail then that needs blunt damage like Hammer, Impact phial CB, Sticky Ammo etc.

The Petalace you have equipped determines how much of a stat increase each bird will give, and what the cap will be. Absolute Petalace for example gives up to +100 health and 10 per green Spiribird, so you'd need to pick up 10(or 5 with the level 4 Dango Bird Caller food buff). Spiribird buffs last for the whole hunt. For the temp buffers like Butterflames/Cutterfly they just give you a buff that lasts 60 seconds. They're unrelated to your Petalace and Spiribird buffs, but they do stack with those. I wanna say the Clothfly/Butterflame buffs might override one of the buffs from Adamant Seed/Hardshell Powder and Might Seed/Demon Powder, but I'm not too sure on that.

Holy shit I actually ran out of loadout slots across the 14 pages. I guess this is what happens when element's relevant on more than like 4 weapons. Also I never deleted my HR sets just in case I ever wanted to do low-tier stuff again.

While we're on the topic of Switch problems has MH Rise made your fan any louder than normal? I swear my Switch hasn't made as much noise as it does when I play Sunbreak, and I'm positive it wasn't this loud with vanilla Rise.

The Anomaly levels/points probably aren't being accumulated for next update right? They're definitely gonna raise the cap again and I'm wondering if I should take a break from Investigations and play something else for a while. In unrelated news I've S ranked every MR Arena quest with every weapon.

Will it? For weapons at least it was extremely incremental far as new weapons went with new stuff mostly being meh or a side-grade rather then a obvious upgrade.

I think I'm more into Rise now than I was last year somehow, even though I don't care for Charm(and now Armor) RNG. Plus with element being relevant on damn near everything and me playing every weapon that's close to like 70 weapons that need to be made? I do prefer it this way rather than just making whatever the best raw weapon is and calling it a day with builds, but it's still a lot of work. Some of the good weapons/armor stayed good in TU1 so I kinda doubt there's gonna be an entirely new meta coming. Hell this update made lower tier shit more relevant thanks to the higher budget with Qurio crafting. What's really gonna drive me nuts is making 15 elemental Bows for when I wanna play with the other shot types.

Also fuck the 3K investigation coin award. You can't even get crowns in investigations so I can't farm the both of them during investigation quests. I now have two really grindy awards I have to do on separate occasions.

I've been tired the last few days due to life circumstances so I am suffering bad choice paralysis in what to hunt, what to craft etc. Tiredness makes me lazy and indecisive I close at work tonight and open tommorow but then it's 48 hours till my next shift after that so maybe I can stop loading the game, running my amiibo lottery, and maybe doing 1 hunt or craft before lying down to mindlessly watch stupid shit on YouTube for the rest of the day.

Okay I just did a few quests, finally. Haven't had much of a chance to play. Thoughts/questions:

Rampage quests are! just okay. A few of my friends said I would hate them but I don't mind them. I would much rather hunt a monster like normal but I imagine much later these will be nice to break up monotony.

I made sure not to use the Defender Weapon but like...are the hunts in the beginning supposed to be so quick? Like I remember every hunt in the beginning of MHW taking a while, from hunting them down and actually fighting them and chasing them. But so far I have killed most of these monsters, I have like fucked them up in one or two "phases" (before they run away). I don't remember that happening in MHW until I came back to earlier fights with much better gear.

Granted I haven't played much, I've fought liked 6 or 7 different monsties so it will change but like, weird feeling.

Maybe it's cause I have another game under my belt, while when I played MHW it was my first.

This helps a lot. Your first MH will always be a learning experience. One thing to note about Rise is that we can get to Monsters so damn quick compared to World's maps that less time is spent on the actual chase. We know exactly where every Monster is on the map before we ever encounter it, Great Wirebugs and Palamutes can get you through maps faster than anything in World, Hunters themselves move a lot faster with the Wirebugs and wallrunning, and World's maps were pretty big. Even with the slinger's grappling hook shortcuts on the way I still remember that climb to the top of the Coral Highlands being horribly slow. And before anyone says it yes I know you could use the Glider Mantle as a shortcut.

It's hard to tell how much time this takes unless you actually kept track of how long you moved around the map, sniffed footprints, etc. but it obviously makes a difference going from World to Rise.

Unless the investigation quests(which also brought back the first two Apexes to MR) are something you're really interested in I don't think TU1 added a whole lot if Sunbreak disappoints you. TU2 is later this month but I can't imagine it would be a big update.

I've been pretty tired busy and distracted lately but I know soon as that TU2 trailer drops I'm going to be devoting my life to MH again.

I've been playing Monster Sanctuary all week. I beat it Thursday night and managed to 5 star all but one Champion with the team I rolled through the whole game. It was a lot of fun but man do I feel like I made it harder on myself by using stuff from just the first few hours of the game. Only have a few achievements left.

In Monster Hunter news I've been participating in the weekly speedrun topic on the main board, but this week is no augments so I have to make a new set of armor before I even start practicing.

TIL the Hunting Horn's Double Swing moves slightly faster if it goes counter clockwise. It's such a random/niche thing that I'm sure I'll forget next time I play HH.
