I've hunted 8 metal raths total and only a single gleam...

So I just fought the same monster back to back at 60 and 30 FPS to see if all the talk about the game being harder at higher FPS is true and goddamn, all of a sudden I'm rolling through roars and attacks that consistently have hit me at 60+ FPS and the difference in the tracking on monster attacks is noticeable, but boy does 30 FPS look/feel like shit after being used to playing at 60 so its not even worth it

Not completely surprised at this as I do remember being able to more consistently I-frame through things when I played on Switch at launch but I just assumed I was out of practice as I dropped the game around 2.0 and only picked back up on PC a week before Sunbreak

I was gonna buy the game on PC but decided against it since i'm already vested in the switch version and i don't play enough to care about 30 vs 60 fps. It doesn't feel that bad if you've only played the game at 30fps. I have a beefy PC so all my games run at 60fps minimum on high/max and this one isn't that bad.

I didn't have my current gaming PC until after Rise had already come out, and there's no way I'm restarting a Monster Hunter game. This shit takes too much time, and I play every weapon so that's a lot of re-grinding I would've had to do.

I might start MH6 on PC but we'll see what it's like when it gets here I guess. Stuff like this and Fromsoft games feel much nicer at higher FPS. I played Dark Souls 2 at both 30 and 60 and it felt like a huge difference.

I definitely did not regrind everything when I switched to PC, I just used mods to essentially recreate my switch save and pick up from there

Sometimes hard to adjust ZSD usage going from anomaly quests to regular quests. You're generally free to use ZSD with reckless abandon against afflicted monsters thanks to bloodblight. But then I started using it at unsafe moments in just a regular Magnamalo hunt and got killed a couple times because of it. Funny how that works out.

Can someone give me a rundown on SwAxe differences from MHW:IB? :)

You ever try Blood Rite in regular hunts with Switch Axe? Latching to heads with ZSD isn't too hard and they're broken often enough that Blood Rite gives you a ghetto Bloodblight/Health augment. Still not very safe depending on what you're stuck to though, or as good as when you have Bloodblight.

What's giving you trouble specifically? The moveset is a bit more similar than it is to 3rd and 4th gen SA. Power phials take longer to charge in this game naturally due to how much better the amped state is, but the new Elemental Burst Counter kinda just skips that drawback. ZSD now has superarmor so it's like you always have Rocksteady on during the move, and you can cancel its recovery animation with Soaring Wyvern whatever. Rather than only using sword combo's the new bnb involves using one of the new transform combo's after Double Slash(A on NS controls), so the combo is A, ZR, ZR, repeat. The other new transform combo(which I barely use but it's there) is in axe mode after any overhead attack that slams like the air X, Overhead Smash(switch skill that replaces the lunging stab), and a standing X.

There's a skill that's almost tailor made for Switch Axe called Rapid Morph. At max level it speeds up transform attacks by 30% and increases their damage by 20%. This is like the first thing you stick on a Switch Axe build and the main reason these transform combo's are so good.

There are a couple of interesting looking healings sets or ideas I've seen. All I've got going now is a Lance build with Blood Rite, Partbreaker, and Peak Performance. I have to update the majority of my sets anyway, but I've been too lazy.

I just mean all the tutorials they throw at you are so overwhelming, that even though I knew the general idea of the game from the previous one, it makes you feel like you know nothing.

Sunbreak Amiibo listed for separate purchase dates changed a couple times though. Currently set for September 7th, no preorders live for now.

I wanted one of the Rise one's too but I never found any. Granted I didn't look that hard but I like the flagships and buddies for this game.

On an unrelated note what's everyone's most interesting Investigation? I got an Afflicted Lunagaron feat. Apex Arzuros and Valstrax at level 90-ish. I'm hoping I can grind it to 100 soon but doing this multiple times in a row is tiring.

Kinda losing my mind rn trying to get Tetranadon's small crown. I've gotten the "Smallest size updated" message twice today but neither were it. I've only capped 41 of them but I'm pretty sure most of that was today. At least it's a short, easy hunt.

I got Tetra's crown yesterday before I stopped playing, so then I went back to Investigations for a bit. I need to stop locking every quest that catches my eye because there's no way I'm gonna grind all of them to level 100. I wish there was a faster way to level, because stuff like triple targets with one of the more rare Monsters like Scorned or Elder Dragons barely come up.

Oh shit Espinas Subspecies has a name finally? I'll be looking forward to that fight(plus the inevitable afflicted Espinas in TU2). If Teostra's getting bodied in its intro is Chameleos next for TU3? lol.

Kind of a dumb name. Still, I like Espinas so I'm interested in seeing what it can do.

Anyway I finally branched off to a weapon other than SA, DB, and Lance. I played Gunlance a bit in base Rise and enjoyed it. But I only played Full Burst. Now I'm using a Wide Lance since the Cornpopper is the only tier 10 GL I have at the moment. Man I suck. Had a hunt go over 40 minutes against afflicted Basarios and a couple mid tier monsters. I think if I could properly nail the timing of Guard Reloads it would be significantly easier.

Also everyone says the poke, shell, repeat combo is the way to go for Wide, but it feels extremely awkward. I don't know if it's because of input delay but I really am not a fan. I was spamming Bullet Barage after the "10 minutes left" popped-up and that seemed way more effective.

I suppose they could throw a curveball and add a Variant of a base mon not in the game at all like they did for Valstrax. Ruiner Nerg, or Savage Jho maybe?

I don't think they'll add a Rare Species or Variant for a Monster that isn't already in the game, even though Crimson Glow happened for vanilla Rise. While we're talking about TU2 they replaced the Subspecies part of the pic with Flaming Espinas, so I guess the Mizutsune is in fact a Rare Species unless "Powered-up Monsters" refers to Variants specifically.

We're still missing anything new for Goss Harag which I thought was a weird exclusion. Rusted Kushala, Chaotic Gore, Frostfang Barioth, Molten Tigrex, and the white Espinas are I think the only Rare/Variants that have some relation to a Monster already in the game.

I think Brute's a subspecies not a rare/variant. If we do get Brute though it'll be nice to have both colorations of its MR armor again. I used to use that layered set all the time in Iceborne, and even though I preferred regular's colors I kinda miss it.

A subspecies wouldn't be a good idea for him. A variant would though. A veteran Goss Harag who's survived against countless hunters and truly studied the blade.

If we're not getting powercrept in the next Title Update I hope the augments slots at least get a nice increase. 10 raw/9 element/5% affinity is all so low, plus there are some weapons that get no choice on the last augment slot if you use a size 4 upgrade like max raw.
