Eeeh. That feels like a lazy answer to the whole gimmick. Testament makes sense when you think about it, but Bridget's thing was the conflict in being raised as a girl and wanting to be a man.

Like actually in Japanese and everything, or is it some kind of weird western overreaching of things? Dont think that would be the first time that an overzealous localizer has put their own spin on things recently.

Would hardly be surprising if they go that direction with the character, but what little I remember of the character is not like that at all.

Awkward development for this specific character. Bridget used to simply be a dude who was raised to prefer traditionally feminine clothing and behavior, but despite that wanted to prove he was still just as much a man as any other (regardless of his personal tastes). He would always correct people who mistook him for a girl.

But now she's just outright a girl. It's like the character gave up.

With the store presented Bridget was a male, FORCED to be raised as a girl. Now they are saying the character is trans. Like I said before that is literally what Republicans claim people do to trans kids.

Bridget's initial decision to insist that she was a boy was intended to try and prove her village's superstition wrong, which she did successfully by living a successful life as a bounty hunter after leaving the village, and that led to the village abandoning that superstition not long after. She didn't "give up" on anything because she fully accomplished the goal that she set out to accomplish. Any further development Bridget had in the 9 years since her last appearance (which is a long time to change and develop as a person) was solely based on her own life experiences and her own soul-searching, completely detached from her previous situation.

There was no longer the pressure of her village insisting that she be a girl, the defiance in her heart to prove them wrong, or any reason to continue lying to herself about her own feelings. She took time to think about it of her own volition and choose her own identity, and she chose to be a girl in the end.

Like I said before that is literally what Republicans claim people do to trans kids.

Her move set looks cool. Strive is the first GG I've owned so I don't know the lore, and the story mode/history mode thing in Strive is a fucking slog so I might never know the lore lol
