I figured when I saw that Liberatedliberator was still in the contest after all these years, it must be one of the really awful Umineko songs to have not retired yet. It isn't. There are no bad songs today. Tachi is the worst thing here, and it's still good. It's just a shame today is technically a 1-3-5.

Match 1 is rough; I think I like Limitless Cinderella more overall, but 2:46-3:11 of GEOMETRIC DANCE is my favorite part of either track and strong enough to carry the match today

okay uh frick uh um heck ok this is a day huh (somehow i forgot)

that intro to limitless cinderella that makes me think of... well, not shmup songs, (kinda a bit like some of elebits i guess?) has caught me off guard so many times now. the bossa that follows almost feels disappointing by comparison until it becomes apparent that no it's yack bossa. not my favourite senko song but still
speaking of intros i also like how geometric dance starts off as though it's trying to be sakura wars (whether intentionally or not...). the way it builds out from that is an experience i have yet to tire of and may not for some time. also not my favourite ongeki song but it's a modern rhythm game series of course there's more stuff in there i'm also obsessed with. illegal match 1

kinda weird thinking about it now that i'm just as addicted to these zts epics in umineko as i was over a decade ago. despite being so similar, each one has such memorable and... well, i kind of want to say iconic (even if it's not strictly true) moments. i wonder if it's even possible for them to not remain highlights of these contests to me.
i guess it's a bit of a surprise that murasaki (and tsurugi) has remained so high to me too. i still almost think of it like a "new thing" i'm into that i've only just shared for the first time when it's been about 5 years since tsurugi's release now... proud to have helped facilitate it leaving a mark on these contests now, and even if it's got a long way to go before it can compare to the likes of umineko, the sheer fact that one of its most unconventional, most not-vgmc-material songs managed to make it in at all remains very significant to me. anyway yes this is still a watson song watson is op

from the first time i really listened to peposoft last bost up to now i can't say i've exactly slept on his stuff and yet stuff like this never ceases to shock me. how is he this good tho
another obsession of a time, i couldn't really say what my favourite song on the neotokyo soundtrack is but i can say i can say i've probably tried out so few FPSes of my own volition that i can count them on one hand, and this is one of them, purely because songs like this captured my attention so much through these contests that i just had to. i didn't think this would be this close but it is, heck

it varies a bit but today i was more into death's less conventional rhythms which made ranking a bit hard i guess since that's not really a focus of any of the others here... i kinda want to do a full zts song ranking but it'd take a long time to decide...

anyway right match though. today the way i'm feeling, the lowest rating i'd give to any of these is a high 8...

I like the synth that starts at 1:29 in Limitless Cinderella, although it's short-lived. The one at 2:44 is neat as well. I think I like it a bit better than I did in R1, but it's still not the most interesting track in the world. GEOMETRIC DANCE is just plain cool. The motif at 2:18 is pretty nice. Pretty easy vote here.

The synth at 2:59 in liberatedliberator is nice, but the overall track is pretty eh to me. Healthy Unicorn is a bit too all over the place for me to enjoy it at all. I can appreciate it for what it is though. So yeah, this is an extremely weak match for me, but I think liberatedliberator gets the edge.

I forgot Contrattacco had a wack mix. The echo-y mix on the strings (and pretty much everything else really) really isn't doing it for me. There are some neat aspects here and there, but it's definitely not enough to make up for the negatives. Tbh, the few songs of Neotokyo that I've heard give me some Radiohead vibes with the experimental rock style. I probably oughta listen to the full soundtrack at some point. Still sad that this went against Battle With the Devil in R1. Should've been a R3-4 matchup. Easy vote for Tachi here regardless.

Mixed day today. Some good ones, some pretty meh songs as well.

Tough match 1. I like both songs just as much for the most part, but GEOMETRIC DANCE has that one part at 2:47 that I don't really like, while Limitless Cinderella doesn't have any weaker parts, so Limitless Cinderella barely wins here, but I wouldn't mind either song winning that match.
