4th wall break of 'I know you can't wait to see wong' made me feel extremely called out and I am okay with this.

3rd episode spoilers.

I am glad this show has more episodes and I hope it gets a second season.

This so far is feeling a lot like a normal show that is trying to find its footing at the beginning. There are some really good moments. And there are some major misses. I would hope that they slide into the right mood by the end of the season and end strong... still has a lot of potential. But I'd say when it misses, it's because it gets a little too self-aware and pushes things just a little too far.

For me those are the moments I enjoy the most so far.

I expected the Emil Blonsky plot to take more time to resolve, but ok

I'm gonna guess Wilson Fisk, because them vaguely referring to "the boss" is the exact thing they did for him in Hawkeye, and we already know Daredevil is slated to appear

Joining in on The Leader theory. Collecting Hulk blood was his jam last we saw and he would be an absolutely hype 14 year pull. Like Hawkeye setting up Kingpin's future in the MCU, this could be the MCU bringing in The Leader to finally get realized. Kingpin's already set for Echo & Daredevil anyhow, all with Murdock as well, they can let Matt chill with She-Hulk solo here (I think they mentioned him having a lighter appearance in this).

That'd be great.

I mean, we're getting more "episodes" but the total runtime for a season has got to be roughly the same across all these various MCU shows.

Random Q that popped into my head during this episode: at one point a reporter confronts She-Hulk and suggests that the Avengers turned her down.

What is even the current status of "The Avengers" to the public right now? Who even are "The Avengers?" Is that an organization that's still functioning right now?

The only legacy members of the Avengers who aren't dead, retired, off world, doing their own thing, or just generally not available are like... Falcon, Ant-Man, and maybe Bruce Banner. Maybe Hawkeye but I'm pretty sure he's supposed to be retired? Everyone else is not around! Is the implication that the public just kind of considers the Avengers to be a loose collection of superheroes who are always doing stuff and always recruiting new members?

WandaVision went the 9 ep route and it's the longest one by a strong margin.... but if I do the math comparing to She-Hulk's current avg length...

Interesting fact tho... WandaVision's first eps were 31m, 39m, 34m... averaging the exact same 34.67min length She-Hulk's currently batting. But eh, we were warned WandaVision was starting out short and gradually getting longer.

Falcon also had abnormally long episodes, like everything +50min, penultimate +60min

Also interesting that aside from the Moon Knight exception, every series has been shorter than the last, 6 shows in.

Man looking back at those... with the exception of Wandavision which had a good extra chunk of time, Hawkeye did the most in the time it was given by far, like holy shit it was on another level from the rest of those

WandaVision was still my favorite but Hawkeye was probably the near-objective best

I really do wish they'd do something about the Avengers because yeah, it's very confusing who is still on the team at this point and in what capacity.

New She-Hulk was good. It's pretty much the vibe I was hoping for the series and anyone complaining it isn't comic accurate enough to that feeling frankly hasn't read She-Hulk.

But good lord the fight scene at the end was absolutely abysmal still. I just do not understand how they're so bad. It's not even just lame action but it's edited terribly, hard to follow, and completely disjointed.

I'm trying not to be too bugged by it because it's She-Hulk and not to be taken entirely seriously, but Abomination is just an absolute joke now, and transformed he has that dopey human face and looks terrible. They just went too hard on making him such a joke. There's plenty of characters they could have leaned in on with that, but it's so sad seeing such a badass character be just a lame laughingstock.

i dont know how much anyone in the public actually knows what the avengers consist of or who is on the team

like, based on Shang-Chi, I assume that at least Wong, Bruce, and Carol are Avengers at this point, but the general public doesnt seem to have much concept of who Wong is

so i would guess they also dont know what any individual hero is up to at any moment. people may not realize Thor isnt around or that Hawkeye retired

but yeah, the status of the Avengers is a weird mystery in the MCU at this point. I really hope theres an opportunity to establish whats up with them sometime before the actual Avengers movie comes out since thats still so far off.

Rogers: The Musical had Ant-Man in the Battle of New York so yeah public understanding of the Avengers is canonically flawed.

Maybe abomination will be less of a joke in the Thunderbolts movie

Wong continues to be great in everything he shows up in

I mean most people seem to get their hero information from Kamala style youtube vids and Ant-man's podcast so I wouldn't expect a ton of accuracy.

A fan theory that he was just tiny the whole time makes sense though...!

Because we now know that, canonically, Ant-Man existed in the world after Captain America but before Ironman and the Avengers.

This episode made it clear that the media runs wild with any random superhero "rumor" they get a whiff of. They could be reporting literally anything in regards to the Avengers right now.

I'm enjoying the fact that this is pretty low stakes so far

Partly because wow the CGI is noticeably bad even for someone like me who doesn't care much about that

I still think the majority of Moon Knights CGI was worse than anything we've seen in this.

War Machine, maybe? Him having the government/military push may make a difference, atleast when it comes to being known. Though I also forget if he retired or anything.

I actually watched a behind the scenes of season 2 of Flight Attendant and they brought on folks who did Orphan Black to help with the season with multiples of the main character, and they had a bunch of doubles and just had to film the scenes multiple times from different perspectives with different outfits. It's actually a bit wild. Kaley Cucuo said it was very exhausting, so I can only imagine how brutal it was for Tatiana Maslany some days.

Yeah at least in She Hulk she doesn't have to film a scene 5 times as 5 different characters.

Random side note: She-Hulk has a fantastic theme.

Finished the third episode, and while I enjoy the humor, I think the show has an issue of wanting to be Super Ally McBeal without doing the due diligence of slowly building a supporting cast with some heart and depth. It feels paper thin. I think, once again, we have a problem of rushing and cramming too much into too little space, and so when the priority goes to hitting the jokes and the quirkier beats over an established baseline with a little heart to it, well... the show just seems very two-dimensional to me.
