RVOLUTIN has a catchy whoawhoawhoawhoa and the track wisely knows that's the best part because it's repeated a thousand times, but it can't win off of that alone! The rest of the song is not for me. I don't connect to Savior at all and I adore White Palace, this may be one of the easiest matchups in the round for me. I swear it's not my general pro-Hollow Knight bias, WP is one of my favs in that OST (and I didn't think it would be anyone else's, so I'm happy it got into the contest). The wistful vibes are off the charts, I love the harp (?) plucking away like it's finding the melody as it goes, it builds and fades so naturally, man I just love it. All the layers come together so well, I particularly love 2:45-55 for some reason. floatable is pretty funky as far as generic anime songs go, there's something interesting in there. Will Force is also overly simple but pretty enjoyable, this is a close match. I'll abstain for now and listen to them again later. Great song with great instrumentation, melody, and progression/structure. Definitely a favorite in Bracket D. RVOLUTIN has way too many whoas to make it really enjoyable for me lol. It's an alright J-Rock song otherwise. Nothing outstanding though, and certainly not nearly good enough to rival The Lost City. The Merciless Savior is really boring to me. There's really no strong melody to latch on to. The instrumentation isn't great either, with all the sampled instruments and sampled choirs worst of all. It being 7 minutes long doesn't help its case either. Just a weird song for me. White Palace, on the other hand, is absolutely beautiful. It's a fairly simple song, relying on a simple harp arpeggiated ostinato as the base. But the way the orchestra swells around that base is splendid. The strings, harp, cello, horns, winds, and everything work together really well. One notable part that I'd like to mention is the really neat call and response that the horn and flute do while backing the harp from 2:15-2:45. Really great song. I like the piano and harpsichord in floatable. The vocalist is pretty good too. The bridge at 2:52 is particularly lovely. Sweet song. Will Force is fine, but it's not really my thing. Not a huge fan of Yousuke Yasui in general (I'm sorry kama). I can see why people like it though. Not much else to say on this one. Pretty easy votes for me today.
