It doesn't have to be the Earth, just a little planet...

I know there's old Mode 7 games on the SNES, and it's not exactly a rare motiff - all the Final Fantasy games on PS1 use it

But I mean one with a smaller planet where you can see the curvature as well, kinda like Super Mario Galaxy only slightly bigger... and Star Fox'd

Couldn't you fly across the entire planet in either Chronotrigger or Secret of Mana?

For some reason, I think DQIX had it as an option.

this is true, I mentioned similar effects in my OP

But what I'm looking for isn't so much the game itself, but more the tech of flying over a small globe...

I think FF8 might have been the closest to what I mean, other than Super Mario Galaxy (occasionally)

Haven't played it, but No Man's Sky should fit the bill. Some other space sims might work too, but not sure.

Other than DSP I think people are misunderstanding me...

I mean something like if a Star Wars game let you do the entire Death Star

Doesn't No Man's Sky let you fly around whole planets? Or does it just have certain landing points?

Maybe Space Engineers.

Probably have to play for a bit before you can make a vehicle capable of flying around it though.
