Or when people shat on Obama for stuff he didn't have any power over. Or Bush. Or Clinton... It's almost like half the country each picks a side, and then treats the guy in the office as either their champion or a supervillain, regardless of anything they do or what they're actually responsible for. It's also a door that swings two ways - Clinton got tons of credit for things he had nothing to do with, because he was a charming and popular Democrat who lucked out and got to be in charge during a time when multiple economic bubbles were forming and the economy was strong.
